There is no reason for anybody to have a gun in a bar or anywhere else. America's gun culture makes law enforcement far more dangerous and hundreds of innocent people are killed and maimed every day by gun nuts. Firearms are the main reason health care costs are so high. President Obama must implement a gun ban as part of his national health care plan to help keep costs down.
Blame the gun, the perpetrator is only a victim, right? Allowing the perpetrator to be released of their responsibility breeds loyalty to your party?

The reasons why health care costs are high:
Government involvement
Frivolous lawsuits
Unnecessary trips to ER when getting a GP appointment is more appropriate
Illegal aliens using the services unnecessarily without paying for services
People who refuse to buy insurance instead want others to be responsible for them

People already have guns in bars. This is just another example of legislation that is wasteful. We need fewer laws and more personal responsibility. If you are afraid of accepting responsibility for your own actions, then you should just stay home and drop out of society.

Ha, tell that crap to a co-worker and one night stand of mine. She wound up with her throat slit, pool balls and a broken cue stick up her orifices. She was still alive when the police found her, they didn't even know who the hell she was for days after she died. It turns out her real men biker boy friend and his real men friends did the number on her in a tavern while the tavern was open for business. The tavern owner turned states evidence, got the simple simon municipal witness protection program and eventually all four or her attackers were caught, tried and found guilty of the rape, sodemy and murder of this woman. One of the attackers went fugitive and was actually featured on AMW.

Regardless, I doubt her possing a gun might have saved her life, but the bartender's possession of a sawed off shotgun might have.

Can I play?

Cars have no place at bars. This is carrying a privilege way too far and risking lives. Any such establishment which puts in a parking lot, enables people to drive drunk, and supports vehicular homicide.

The amount of posts supporting alcohol and guns just proves my point.

Really?
None of the preceding posts seemed to advocate for an irresponsible use of alcohol while carrying a firearm.

And it might help if you didn't start right out of the gate with things like-
"Any organization that supports this is also supporting murder".

That tactic, intended to 'guilt' people into supporting a cause, was worn out years ago by the environmentalists.

No one here is supporting alcohol + guns. If you read the legislation correctly, only people with CHP's will be allowed to carry (legally) in to places that serve alcohol, and they will not be allowed to drink. If they do drink and are caught carrying, they will be guilty of a crime (a misdemeanor I believe), and if convicted, possibly lose their CHP license.

This law is to replace the requirement in Virginia of OPEN carry into establishments that serve alcohol for on-site consumption (whether the person is drinking or not). Currently, it is not against the law to drink while open carrying. It is only against the law to be intoxicated while carrying.

Interesting post and to some degree I agree. All about personal responsibility.

Thanks for the post and information. Clarification is always good. I just feel and have seen that alcohol and guns do not mix. I believe that is a very established hunting premise as well. Was at least a well viewed hunting commercial/PSA. If there is a way to determine who has a gun before being served might make a difference. As one who tended bar, I would not be comfortable with patrons being armed. I saw too many fights go way past simple arguments in such situations. Just my opinion like all of you we have that right. I am not advocating making guns illegal by the way, my clarification.

Not trying to "guilt" anyone. I do not belive there is such a thing as responsible use of alcohol while carrying a gun. Ok I agree maybe my comment that anyone who supports is supporting murder is harsh. My viewpoint comes from a lost, meaning murdered friend in a bar fight. The gun was not owned by the shooter, the shooter grabed the gun and shot. Not always the responsible gun carrier to blame. don't assume so much ok?

One situation is relevant to R.K.B.A. and the other is not.
