I feel all the above ordinances are great, EXCEPT the barking dog ordinance. I have not seen exactly how it is wrote, however some folks dogs may bark off and on after 10 p.m. Some dogs naturally bark at people, vehicles, noises, sirens, and even other animals that may come into the areas where they live. If a dog barks for long periods of time and the owner does not try to quiet them I can see that as a problem. If you fine people for a dog that barks very little, then NO one will have dogs as pets and that would be CRUEL!

You may not agree with the Dog Barking Ordinance, but that is mostly because you DO NOT live beside someone who owns 2 Great Danes that bark all day and all night for hours and hours on end! I can't even enjoy the nice weather outside because when I open my windows, that is all I hear. The "Unemployed" owner that mooches off of the goverment and tax payers used to have 3 Great Danes but THANK GOD one of them DIED! The cops have been called on her for these dogs barking on many occasions from multiple neighbors. I am now going to officially file a Noise Complaint about the barking since this new law passed. Maybe that will OPEN HER EYES to make her dogs SHUT UP!

Tape record the barking. Be sure to announce the date and time when you start. Let the recorder just sit and run with no further comments from you. Then take it to the authorities and play it for them. See how they like hearing barking for hours.

Bravo Chesterfield BoS! If only Henrico would follow suit. As a Henrico citizen I call the police 3-4 times per week on a band that literally shakes the houses around us and nothing happens (other than we'll send an officer). Per the Henrico community resource guide I was anticipating a change/response, but nothing. Must not be a county representative in the vicinity of this annoyance!

Your a Henrico resident? But it says London Canada. OK Rich here's how it works. I'm a Henrico police officer now for 12 years. If we get complaints from the same person over and over about a loud party, dogs barking,a loud band. Even their neighbors TV being too loud. And we don't hear or see any violation when we arrive. Then we no longer take the callers calls seriously. We are still required to investagate the call but we usually end up calling dispatch with an "all clear" when we find no justified complaint . As a matter of fact I remember a situation where the person making the calls (a total of 12) was finally hit with an harrasment charge by the person he was complaining about.

Did you know that someone mowing their lawn before 8 am could be a reason a neighbor would complain about noise? So the complaint is made, dispatch finally calls a unit who has just finished some other duty. By the time the unit rolls up on the address the mowing is done and we have no reason to issue a citation. Why? Because we didn't hear it happening.

My neighborjust adopted his daughters dog because she was going to take it to the pound because she couldn't handle it. The dog stays outside all day long and barks continuously and loudly. Imagine 3 squeeky toys being sqeezed non stop all at one time and this is what this little yapping chuwawa sounds like. Once in a while he may stick his head out of the door and yell at it to be quiet, but then as soon as he closes his door is starts all over again. We have been neighbors for 16 years or so but I get so frustrated and angry during the day that I want to go over and bang on his door and ask him if he has lost his mind or his hearing.
Our yards are about 30 feet apart and I can hear the barking with the doors and windows shut. It isn't fair that any one should have to listen to this constant noise and have no peace even in my own home. This is definately a case of disturbing the peace.
THE ORDINANCE SHOULD BE IN EFFECT 24/7 for such cases. Not sure what I can do about it being that hte ordinance is from 10 PM to 7 AM.

Is this post only for complaining or does someone in the county really read it and pay attention to citizens concerns and complaints?
