We have had multiple out breaks in Louisiana as well !The media claims it is most likely west Nile related however my wife nearly died had we not been as persistent that it was possible meningitis , encephalitis or intracranial hypertension. When the CT , and MRI of the brain came back negative , they took a shot in the dark and did a spinal tap sure enough it came back POSITIVE viral encephalitis ......... The KICKER is that a month prior she had steroid injections in the back due to an injury and then became symptomatic. I'm glad epidemiologist are recognizing this !!!!!!! Had my wife and I not been in the medical field I would most likely be a widow
