I traveled I 77 every week when I drove for youngblood truck lines that mountain has always been dangerous and u.s.52 is even worse from fancy gap too mt airy n.c. A lot of people have died on both roads befor 77 was completed 52 was the only way to go a many of truck driver lost there brakes going down the mountain in the 1960s & early 1970s
