GOP continues to lose elections on failed policy, so instead of reform, resort to voter suppression. There's not ONE case of proven voter ID fraud, but Bell will waste good taxpayer money resurrecting this dog of a bill.

Stay tuned for more restrictions to thwart early voting, underfunding of polling locations for longer lines and confusing voting requirements to keep them at bay.

The right just refuses to get it. The more they fight the more they will anger the voters. But thats OK, let them cry, the louder they cry the more they will alienate the populus.

Wondering though, who are the millions that don't have a photo ID - You can't work, cash a check, buy cigarettes, buy alcohol, drive, get a library card, rent an apartment, cash benefit checks, go to a doctor, have a baby and fill out a birth certificate, get your teeth cleaned, attend college, register your kid for school, see an R rated movie in some cases, walk into many government building, fly an airplane, ride a bus, open a checking account, apply for welfare, rent a movie, go to a bar, get pain medicine when prescribed, buy allergy medicine, pick up your child early from school, get SS, get WIC, get housing, Get TANF, pay your taxes, and on and on. So help me out folks, who are the folks that don't have a photo id and how do they live?

the new law should require photo identification, dna test, and handing over a $100 dollar bill in exchange for the privlage of voting.

you bleeding heart liberals would have lost this past election if this law was in place. Voter fraud was within the margin and you know it was a factor. but we are not as dumb as you think.

Voter suppression law straight from the Governors office, written by ALEC (American Legislative Exchange Council). Laws like this are do not promote democracy and are further signs of a fascist plutocracy.

Common Sense:

1 vote + 1 person = need for verification.

Why do so many on the Left protest this? Is this not the very core of a free Democracy? Voter fraud SHOULD be suppressed!

Pass the law, Virginia.

"Voter suppression"??? I grew up in NY, lived in Las Vegas and now reside in Cville...I have absolutely no idea how anybody survives in todays society without a picture ID??? It is not like the amount the DMV charges for a Driver's Lic. or a photo ID will break the bank...get real people!!! Simple solution...the DMV stops charging for photo IDs!!! Oh yes...I guess then the taxpayers would have to provide transportation and if it takes over 2 hours at the DMV, of course provide lunch!!! What ever happened to being accountable for yourself, rather than always looking for the taxpayer to give you another free ride??? An ID might not only help you to vote, but it also might help you get a job...

Sorry Mr censor, I did not mean to offend you. So I will try again.

Voter ID bill bad for the health of the GOP party.

Evidence? Last election The Party that believes everyone should enjoy the right to vote with NO OBSTACLES won with 53% of the vote.

The party that put up numerous obstacles and attempted to suppress the vote garnered 47% of the vote.

Proof that The Presidency cannot be bought by billionaires. That those who are discriminated against WILL SHOW UP AND VOTE. That the silliness of Rob Bell's actions indicate how some feel that the poll tax was a good thing.

Remember T-People, Voter ID is not a part of OUR Constitution, And the Democratic Party, unlike the GOP, is not afraid to allow everyone to vote.

Even if this voter id bill goes into effect, next election, Democrats will still win. Truth of the matter is, Republicans can only count on old white men who are either too rich to care about the poor who keep them rich or too uneducated to keep voting against their own best interests. I don't mind if the voter id law passes because I don't committ fraudulent activities anyway. And like I said, the Democrats will still win regardless.

better yet a $100 penalty for not voting, then we'll actually be able to pass effective legislation and run the country responsibly

If you grew up in NY, you should know a lot of people in NYC don't own cars (neither did TJ).

If you are who you say you are you should have no problem with this. Also if you cannot afford a few dollars to get a photo ID card, then should you really be voting on local/state/federal matters that include other people's money? That being said, I have not seen any laws prohibiting blacks, poor people, dems, conservatives, or anyone elso from getting an ID.
