That stinks. A lot of people have no other real choice. I am glad that I live in Texas and have a permit (yeah, that sucks too. But it lets me carry) that is honored in so many other states. If Congress would stop being the opposite of progress and pass a national reciprocity bill, this flap with Utah would be moot.

Agreed!
.
If Utah was supposed to be so 'freedom friendly,' then they'd adopt the 'Vermont carry' the same way as Alaska did.
.
I don't reckon that such will happen though, since Utah isn't so 'freedom friendly' after all ...

Or just live as a free person does and carry anyway. I don't believe my safety is up for someone elses' permission. Especially not criminal politicians.

Foo, that works great right up to the point where you bump heads with the King's enforcers. They will either murder you where you stand or toss you in prison for decades.

So... good luck with that plan of yours.

It is my considered opinion that there are a LOT of Americans who don't have a license to carry, but do so anyway.

I do not disagree HL. I am merely pointing out that they run the risk of being tossed in prison or murdered in the street. Am I wrong?

I don't know about yourself, but your assertions are relative to the place which they happen to find themselves.

Don't we all have a permit already? It's called the US Constitution! This is the HIGHEST LAW OF THE LAND. Period.

Any local or state ordinances are supposed to be inferior, null and void if they conflict with the Constitution.
Swearing to uphold the Constitution is a REQUIREMENT of politicians, judges and law enforcement officials.
Any politician, cop or judge who seeks to stop law abiding American citizens from bearing arms, either by writing gun control laws, or arresting / punishing our fellow citizens for carrying a gun while going about their business, is committing TREASON!! Think about it. They are in direct violation of their oath to uphold the Constitution (particularly the 2nd Amendment) and their oath to protect the American people from domestic enemies - in this case those who would disarm them. Cops should be arresting people who write treasonous gun control legislation. Judges should UPHOLD the highest law of the land - the Constitution.

Our political and legal systems are riddled with corruption, and the American people are plagued with apathy and ignorance. It's a very dangerous combination.

While I agree with what you've remarked of above, you should remember just this: There is no law against lying when not oath in a court of law.
.
Politicians lie to get into office all the time. They get away with it because there's simply no law preventing such.
.
Then —of course— they may well declare that they've changed their minds once they get elected, and there's no law against that either.
.
Additionally, just because someone swears an oath to protect and defend the U.S. Constitution, that doesn't mean that the won't connive to render a vastly different interpretation than what its text actually says.
.
Our biggest problem is just this: Our form of government —as good as it is— needs some tweaking, such that the elected officials DO NOT get to make laws.
.
Rather, they should be elected to arrive at one or more conclusions regarding whatever matter, and THEN place the choices before the People DIRECTLY for their vote.
.
Further, ALL votes should REQUIRE a super-majority of 80% of BOTH show AND vote in the affirmative by the registered voters . If only 79% show and vote, the measure doesn't pass.
.
All laws should have a three year sunset clause, requiring the same super-majority show and vote, an no measure which has failed may be proposed again for not less than 6 years.
.
You see? It's like this: If the elected officials CAN'T be bribed to vote on something, then what good would a bribe do?
.
Further, no person should be allowed to serve more than a single term in elected office, and not seek —or be appointed to— any elective office for a term of not less than 15 years after discharged from duty in the last office.
.
And NO PERSON whom has been employed by an organization —or whom has an interest in— which is subject to regulatory law, should =EVER= be appointed a regulatory office of government.

HL, Maybe we can sue Obamessiah and the rest in the District of Corruption for False Advertising? There are laws against that.

Where's my Hope? I see no Change.

They'll have the law on their side, if only that ~they~ made the law.
.
As Claire Wolfe has remarked: It's too late to vote and too early to shot the bastards ...

Daily Horoscope for December 5

Leo

Your sunny temperament has returned, dear Leo, as the Sun and Venus dance in Sagittarius and the marvellous Moon shines in your sign. Whatever the day has to offer, it should bring you some pleasure and laughter, so arrange something nice if you don't have anything planned. Your power to charm is considerable right now and it will make you a big hit with whoever gets the full force of it. But don't give someone the come-on if you don't mean it.
