My son worked at the prison and told me stories about guards that brought drugs in and sold them to the inmates. The gangs are really bad there. My sister in law's boyfriend saw two men get beaten to death in there. My son no longer works there.
AMama - I wish you best with your treatments and I pray your son gets out very soon.

Sickened, and all you other convict lovin' liberals.
This is prison not a country club. Yes there are gangs in prison.Oh well, thats where the thugs belong! I have no sympathy at all for these theives and rapist. take all that awe, "he's not gonna make parole like they promised and shove that down somebody elses throat." Until you have been a victim of crime you haven no idea. What about the victims! where are their rights? And you are wrong. No one ever got beat to death in Mineral Wells. The ones that do get beat up are involved in the gang activity themselves. Get your facts straight you idiot.

I too did time in the MWPPTF. Been out for a year now and let me tell you, Mr. "I know more than y'all" is right. MWPPTF does have classes for inmates. But they suck just as bad as that drug and gang infested unit! In the two years I was there I received a certificate in data entry. Now somebody please tell me where a man with a felony record is going to get a job as a data entry clerk. Anyway I also knew Carlos Goff very well and Josh Hall, both of whom were smart young men. Also whom were both very young and immature. When you take someone like Carlos, who has had a difficult, at best, life and proceed to give him false hope for three years in a row. You can expect him to act out. It's his entire life story. In conclusion. I wish both Carlos(Corleone)
and Josh (P.A.) the best and y'all should too. As for me I've been gainfully employed and drug free since my return to the free world after 4 years and am on my way to an associates degree in electrical instrumentation

BETO 1 with in 6 months after being there i was sitting in the confines of my new cell home sweet home in the free world.it comes down to money mineral wells pre parole is a third party system.they house tx,inmates there as long as it stays full they stay in business u see.

I worked in a pre-release prison. It was not the MW unit, but I can and do know a little of what goes on. The one I worked at had a shanking event every month or so. I never did figure out what makes them do things to lengthen their time. I suspect it differs from one resident to another. Depends on the life they will have when they get out, compared to TDC. Depends on their family outside, many issues. I suspect some may try to escape to get away from what is inside, while some may screw up to stay in because of what is outside. Until you have been there, and done that, you can't say. I do however know one person who works at the unit in MW. They haven't told me about anything bad, but who knows.

Wow...some of you people have no heart! Not everyone in there are rapist and theives....some of them had a bad life and made poor choices. That doesn't mean the system can treat them like dirt. If the system is soooo good, why do the guards give them drugs so they can get into trouble? If the system was really "good" they would not set these guys up for failure as soon as they get there. If there were people in the system that really cared about makig these men better people they would not have such twisted employees there!! right??

no!!! no!!! no!!! these people dont want to staylonger they want to go home!!! they are sent there because they are easy to handle , they get there and realize they are in the gang run place and want out anyway possible! i was there and know!!! for dwi no accident i was denied parole for 3 years and watched drug dealers and murderers come back 3 and 4 times before i had to get beat down by a gang an refuse housing in fear for my life just to make parole. so just because someone is there dont think its where they deserve to be, humans dont deserve to go to mineral wells period!!!

Don't you worry a bit about him.... My son was there for about 7 months and he was fine. I live about 350 miles away so I only made it up there for visitation once a month. My son has never been in prison - he's 22 yrs old. One of the best things was phone use. we talked every night. How old is your son?

I was there for 2 years. Sure there are gangs. There are gangs in every prison. If you want to change things don't go to prison. Overall Mineral Wells is still better than TDCJ.

I went there I stayed there six months it's not a good place to be I was so shocked I made my first parole I seen people get denied parole two times they will tell you that you coming home but they will take to short way it's a very dangerous place so many drugs they can get anything over the fence so who ever in there keep your head up and pray they can't hold you for ever
