Diet soda side effects can include headaches, dizziness, palpitations, upset stomach, diarrhea, forgetfulness, fatigue, insomnia, anxiety and MS type symptoms. Have you been to Baylor, wanted a soft drink and the only ones available were diet? Did you experience any of the listed symptoms? Of course you were not forced to buy the drink but a limited choice caused you to try something that you would not normally drink. Baylor, a medical facility, is giving it's recommendation to what some would consider a health risk.

Comments from a person who has spent a lot of time in hospitals with surgeries. I just have family bring me in what I want to eat or drink anyway. Hospital food sucks always has and always will.
The hospital can not force you to drink or not drink a specific beverage. I know of people being in the hospital being allowed to have beer. Granted they were not on any Rx pain meds.
And a lot of people do not know if you request other items not offered on the menu at the hospital generally they will provide you such requests with in reason. Don't expect surf and turf. However I did request a steak and my doctor made sure I had a tbone that evening...you never kow till you ask.
