Court sides with MySpace in suit over sex assault

Federal law gives MySpace.com immunity from a lawsuit over the alleged sexual assault of a teenage girl by a man she met on the social networking Web site, a federal appeals court ruled Friday.

The parents were so worried what myspace didn't do to protect their 14 year old daughter.My question is what did the parents do to watch what heir daughter was doing online.Isn't the true responsablity of a 14 year old safety her parents.Did they check to see who she was talking to? Did They check on her friends on myspace,the amount of time the girl spent on the computer.I think the suit against myspace is an effort to relieve their guilt for not being the ones who protected their daughter.

I guess because the 14 year old girl didn''t kill myspace. Too bad.

I agree with Mary.. Seriously suing Myspace?? They should be asking how did our 14 year old meet a stranger in a parking lot and we didnt know it. She can't drive herself! Didn't they ask where she was going or screen her internet use? Don't they read the papers?? 30 million please! If I was the judge I would have laughed at them. I hoped they learned something from this and learn to protect her themselves and not rely on others (including websites) to do so.
