Police detail scene of woman's grisly slaying in Richardson

There are 41 comments on the www.dallasnews.com story from Jun 17, 2008, titled Police detail scene of woman's grisly slaying in Richardson. In it, www.dallasnews.com reports that:

Police found a grisly scene Saturday when they responded to a child's 911 call at a northeast Richardson home: the severed head and other body parts of a 20-year-old Dallas woman. The dismembered body of Ibonne Zamudio was found in three black trash bags in an upstairs bathroom, according to police documents.

Police on Monday were interviewing the three men arrested at the home – James Matisi, 51, Eric Ziegler, 33, and Timothy Jones, 44 – but said they don't know what led to the brutal slaying. The suspects – who were being held Monday night in Richardson City Jail on $1 million bail each – had been smoking crack cocaine with the victim on the night of the slaying, according to police reports.

Records show that the Richardson Police Department got a 911 call at 9:16 a.m. Saturday from a boy believed to be the 10-year-old son of Mr. Matisi, the owner of the home in the 5700 block of Kensington Drive. When police arrived, they saw Mr. Jones standing nude on the second-floor landing of the home. He was yelling obscenities at the officers and telling them to leave.

Mr. Jones said he, Mr. Ziegler and Ms. Zamudio drove around for a while Friday night smoking crack. When they arrived at the Richardson home, Mr. Matisi joined them, and they smoked crack together. He said Mr. Ziegler and Ms. Zamudio left the room several times and were once joined by Mr. Matisi. Mr. Jones said he went into the bathroom and saw Mr. Ziegler with Ms. Zamudio's nude, lifeless body in the bathtub. Her head had been cut off.

Mr. Jones told investigators he saw Mr. Ziegler cut her body. Mr. Jones admitted to police that he tried to cut off the woman's hand and that he stuffed her body parts into trash bags. At one point, Mr. Matisi stepped into the bathroom doorway "and calmly and coldly told Jones and Ziegler to hurry up and get her body out of his house," according to Mr. Jones.

On Sunday, a Richardson detective attended Ms. Zamudio's autopsy. Her hands, scalp, legs, one arm and tattoos had been cut from her body. Her legs were cut in half at the knees, according to a police report.

You fools don't know all the details, yet you want to lump all of them together. I hope & pray nobody is ever so quick to judge you, although you truly deserve it. Ziegler & Jones were responsible for her death.

Matisi only tried to protect his son & never saw what they did, only heward suspicious noises, then had his son call police as he stood guard behind his bedroom door. He fully cooperated with police & gave them permission to enter & search the house.

Only a truly wise person has the sense to wait to judge until ALL of the facts have been revealed; quite obviously NONE of you are wise.

Yeah right... Matisi invited those devils into his house and was doing drugs with them while his son was in the house.

Makes him an accomplice to capital murder.

Believe me his son is better off without him.

I agree. He picked up those two up on the premise of smoking crack. Bringing them into his home where his child resides is not a very smart idea.

You don't know very much at all about what did or didn't go on in that house. You do not know any of the parties personally, whereas I do. You don't even live on the same continent, much less in the same country or state.

I suggest you keep your pompous, judgemental, asinine, ignorant comments to yourself unless or until you actually learn ALL of the facts about what happened. Until then, you have absolutely no basis & no right to pontificate the fecal matter that continually spews forth from your keyboard, ignoramus.

He didn't pick up ANYONE, o ye of little brains. Mr. Ziegler waited until he & his son were asleep, then Ziegler took Mr. Matisi's truck WITHOUT AUTHORIZATION OR PERMISSION & picked up Zamudio & Jones, subsequently bringing them back (ALSO WITHOUT PRIOR KNOWLEDGE, PERMISSION, OR AUTHORIZATION from Mr. Matisi) to the house in which Mr. Matisi had been so kind as to allow him to stay temporarily.

Ziegler proved that although someone extended a helping hand to him, he was untrustworthy, & therefore he was not only ungrateful, he was downright disrespectful of the home in which he was a guest, & the owner thereof.

I'll admonish you also, unless or until you have ALL the facts, your opinions are worthless. I have far more information about this matter than both of you two judgemental, knee-jerk, half-cocked sensationalists have put together.

When you don't know what you're talking about, it is better to remain silent & be thought a fool than to open your mouth (or in this case post idiotic, non-factual nonsense) & remove all doubt.

Isn't that sweeet. He let a crackhead down on his luck stay in house. Of course he was "asleep". Some girl got chopped to pieces in his house. You idiot what's he supposed to say, that he participated ? The article you quote as scripture says "and they smoked crack together" So he smoked cracked all the while his boy is home ???

Well your little lover is in some trouble and it will be interesting to see how it all turns out for him. But at least he will have you to give him shelter. You should offer. No way in hell will your services be needed and then you'll be remembered as a true friend.

Your friend is scum, nothing but a crackhead

It's very sad that we are stimulating crimes and criminals only to save our own head. If you believe this story --then you'd say, destruction of evidences leads to crime. Addiction to drugs at times too lead us into darkness. One more thing--the honesty of the police is always a question mark.

Mike,I'm am shocked at the hatred in your email. The people commenting here are reading the quotes in thew news and responding. No one is claiming, as you are, to have all the facts. However, it's hard not to judge when we are reading what is clearly printed in the news...be it right or wrong.

I can assure you that I know far more about this situation than anyone else who has commented about it. As far as hatred? No, it's not that, just frustration at the seemingly endless number of people who know so little about all the details and yet are so ready to pronounce judgement. Why don't you try reading back through the comments again, "Here in Texas"?

"Straight to death row with them"? "His son is better off without him"? "Your friend is scum"? Are those "quotes from the news", as you put it?

How many of you can say you know Mr. Matisi personally? How many of you have spooken with his attorney, multiple times? I do, & I have, & there is a lot mnore to this case than what the news media has put out. Oh, but of course, it's not sensational, so they won't say anything about that.

I stand by my statement that unless or until you know all the facts, ytou have absolutely no right to judge.

Oh great, you're a bigot too? Way to go. Look out, your utter ignorance is showing. I'm white, you jackass, but of course you'd be too stupid to figure that out. Why don't you go crawl back under the rock you came from, along with the rest of the KKK members in your area? Your point of view is even less important after reading this kind of idiocy from you.

I sure hope that Mr. Matisi gets whatever he deserves, if he is innocent I hope that he can prove it. I know him and his family and what I can say about him it is that he is a nice good person that was with wrong people.

Thank you. Finally, a post from someone else who knows more than just whatever the news media deems to be a sensational, ratings-getting, biased aspect of the story.
