I spend 4 month every winter in China and our love affair for the motorcar is accelerating climate disaster I have long concluded the bulk of humans would rather die then forsake the use of the motorcar. Beijing 2 weeks ago was an absolute stinker. I got an instant headache and the many smokers were doing their bit by wrecklessly practicing their skills as smoke generators to give it the extra topping. 5.2 million cars are officially in Beijing and every mans dream is to get the flat and then the car or vise verse. I have never seen it that bad in summer. Whither ye man unkind is all I can conclude.Over- Populate and over consume and then perish is a reality now. Come and tast it for yourself! If the rain would not have once more come to the rescue people would have died unduly as did happen during winter with many elderly ups I am over 70 and we have decided Beijing is unsafe to visit and for me china is getting less save with the many dodgy foods now where the radioactivity form Japan is mixing the ocean. No thank you for fish. Even as a vegan I have a hard time and don't trust all food products here anymore. I may opt to stay back home in Tasmania Australia for it is relatively better than most places in the world. I am a coward sorry.

Half a million Chinese citizens die prematurely due to water, land & air pollution(possibly more because of lack of AND suppression of data). When pollution got crazy in the U.S., finally citizens got actively involved to curb the worst excesses of industrial america. Tho communist china(ALWAYS SMALL LETTERS) has no such avenues of expression, individual spurts of suppressed voices & freedom do eek out of communist china(ALWAYS SMALL LETTERS), declaring the insanity of 'death by pollution'.

The rising toll of 'death by pollution', due to uncaring communist china(ALWAYS SMALL LETTERS), is a measure of the lack of freedom in communist china.

The ABILITY of communist chinese(ALWAYS SMALL LETTERS) engineers to CONTROL pollution, may also be a measure of the quality of those engineers....... as well as the ability of communist chinese (ALWAYS SMALL LETTERS) to steal technology to cure pollution.
