The gently rolling ranchland and hardwood-dotted landscapes of northern Grimes County are being noticed by more and more people, and while growth in the area isn't at a boom stage, it is becoming more evident ...

IMO, the Iola school bond issue is all about a football field, nothing more.
In a time of economic crunch, Iola wants to build bigger and better than anyone else.
They actually want a parking lot for 650 cars! When were there ever even 100 cars at any football game?
They are basing the need for a bigger school on kids coming from the King Oaks development, that subdivision is only 11 miles from Bryan, what makes anyone think that the rich families, and you'd have to be rich to afford the land and then build according to their specs, are even going to send their kids almost 20 miles away to a school whose only interest is sports and not academics?
Allen Acadamy is closer and a better school than Iola ever thought of being.
Interesting about this "election" bond, the ballot box for early voting is in the SCHOOL OFFICE, with the SCHOOL SECTY as the election judge!
How about that for a conflict of interest?
Wanna bet that there are no "NO" votes in that ballot box?
At the community center where you will vote on the presidential election, you will have to go to another voting booth to vote on the school bond issue.
Sounds fishy to me.
Iola should be floating a bond issue for a sewer treatment plant not a new football field.

I have heard that the ISD is up to it's usual tricks.
The property for the football field has been purchased, from Mr. Mallet, who is a principal at the school, he "retired" long enough to sell the school the property and is now back at work.
Another Mallet serves on the school board and of course it is illegal for him to sign a check to a relative, so he left the school board for two months, and the school board installed Rudy Galvan, who was voted off the school board at the last election, Mallet is already back on the board or will be as soon as the check is signed.
Illegal? Maybe maybe not, but certainly unethical.
Business as usual under the tutelage of dandy doug devine!
