I was given aldara for possible hpv just as I was heading to iraq. after the second week using it I ended up with a huge sore on my scrotum from the cream that due to the high temperatures caused me to sweat it all down from my penis onto my sac. I thought I was seriously gonna die it hurt so bad. I figured it was from the cream so I stopped using it. When my sac finally healed my skin had lost all pigment, hell even my hair growing from this spot grows white now. I had the reaction in 2004 and its now 2013 and still bleached. I think it is permanent. I used to be so self conscious about this because it would inevitably cause every new girlfriend to ask "what the hell happened to you?" or what the hell is that? Now I am married so that stress is behind me. But it was a very uncomfortable thing to have to worry about and it altered my sex life as I now was uncomfortable with letting my self be seen. Just sucked so thanks so much to the manufacture of aldara. oh I used the cream when I was no longer in the desert as prescribed for the spots I had and it was totally ineffective. I later learned I didn't even have HPV it was just something hereditary that eventually went away anyway.

I should add I have been using for nearly 5 weeks now. 5 days out of seven as per prescription instructions. I am thus far happy with the results, I am more interested to learn if the area will scar. I guess time will tell.
If scaring is your only problem, you will be very lucky. My husband was blond and 60 years old. He applied this cream to his nose as prescribed. His skin had open sores. He is now dead and I will never stop fighting the FDA about getting this cream off the market.

Good luck with that Kirsten. Stop writing on this page if you are having fantastic results, we don't really want to know because all of us are really Sick or are dead because of Aldara. Just remember your reaction to this drug might take a bit longer than some of us. This is not a site for Aldara lovers. This site is here because people need support and advise because theynare suffering.

Just completed 2 months of treatment with Aldara for AK's on the face. Used Fucidin an antibiotic cream during the treatment to combat the uncomfortable itchiness and open sores. Face now looks good. However, thanks to you guys I now understand why I'm suffering with dizziness 24/7 for the past week. Funny that the side effects only hit me after I completed the treatment. Can anyone advise when the dizziness may subside?

No, we can't advise you when your dizziness will subside. That depends on your immune system that may be going crazy. Pray that is all that happens to you. I consider myself extremely lucky compared to most here. People with autoimmune diseases or hyperactive immune systems appear to suffer the worse. Little did I know that when a top dermatologist gave it to me in 2006 for a small peeling place on my lip - it wasn't even cancer and told me to use it "until I couldn't stand it any more" that my life would change forever. I did....twice... and yes it cured my peeling lip. But 6 months later my childhood eczema came roaring back after 40 years - not in the bends of my arms but on the bottoms of my feet to the point I could not walk since they were hard, cracked open and bleeding. Now I know that people with a history of psoriasis or eczema should never use this stuff. I finally have it in remission taking CellCept a transplant drug to calm my immune system. Have blood tests every two months. When I try to go off CellCept, I can feel my feet and the palms of my hands beginning to harden.

Ruth I feel for you and all the others who are suffering. I was also lucky in comparison to most I only used one sachet but that was already enough, can only imagine what would have happened if i had used more. That is why it makes me so angry when people come on to this site saying this shit is fantastic. I am in contact with people all over the world who have been poisoned by this dreadful drug and it is not pretty. Support is zero, doctors know nothing about cytokines and how it can affect you when they become disrupted. Quite honestly I think doctors suck, they all tell you that you are making it up and nobody believes you because there is no really proof except inflammation. 2006 long time ago and you are still suffering heart goes out to you. Stay strong xx

Is there anyone in Canada damaged by Aldara who can help one of our own who is suffering terribly? Anyone in Northern America? She is in desperate need of an understanding Dr who can support her.
THIS IS URGENT.
Many of you know the feeling of being able to take the pain no longer and she is screaming out for help.
PLEASE, if you know of anyway we can get help to her now pls put it up on this site now or contact me……[email protected]
She wont be able to continue without support and we will lose another person to Aldara.

I wound up back at urgent care yesterday because my salivary gland swelled so bad I was having problems swallowing. I've now had my first taste of doctors/nurses getting annoyed. I was told by the nurse not to come back, that I needed to stick to one doctor. Well, my doctor isn't around on the weekends, and now I'm told becuase I've been there twice in a month (for two different things) that I'm pretty much a head case and don't come back. Never in my life have I felt so low or embarrassed. I truly hope my immune system comes back at least mostly back to normal, because depression is now sinking in, which only makes matters worse. And of course, a friend of my husband's was at a function this weekend and told my husband he's been using the cream for the last 3 years all over his face and never had a problem. In fact, he touts it as being some type of miracle cream. My husband came home and looked at me as if there was something wrong with my head. So there's another one thinking I'm a hypochondriac. My muscle/nerve pain is really bad again, but I had an MRI done, and that showed numerous ruptured discs and severe stenosis, so my doctor at least believes me on that one. However, I never had any back problems prior to using the cream. I'm beginning to feel like everyone things I'm insane. I don't care how bad I feel, I'm not going to see any more doctors. I can't afford it, I can't afford any more time off, and mentally I can't take the innuendos that I'm insane. Anyone who asks me how I'm feeling I just smile and say I'm fine.

What a horror story! And this is STILL on the market??? They must have paid off the FDA to ignore it.
The short answer and lesson to all this is to AVOID EXPOSURE TO THE SUN. Back in my grandparent's days, people wore huge wide-brimmed hats to keep the sun off their face and upper torso. And they wore thick clothing. No such a thing as sunbathing. They were SMARTER than the next generations. They just plain avoided contact with the sun.
I've gone back to these "old days" skin cancer prevention. Geneticlaly, I do tan easily. I'm unsure if that's good or bad any more. It has been discovered that black or other dark-skinned people are NOT protected from the sun's rays either. That is a myth.
So don't let anybody tell you, "You need some sun. You're as white as a ghost." Tell them fiddle-dee-dee.
So don't be popular. Be healthy.
And use LOTS of green pepper juice on your food. That prevents colitis and protects exposed membranes. A $2.00 bottle will last your two or three weeks.
This advice is not helpful to those who have very pale skin and live in areas that have sun. I had many sunburns as a child, and have extensive AK. I do all the sun avoidance things, but still have this disease. I have too much disease for surgery and do not want to do nothing and risk more extensive disease in the future. So I work with my doctor to take a slow gradual approach and stop treatment when I develop open lesions.

Make an informed decision one way or another. Cancer is serious. If I have more cancer I will most likely use Aldara again. mandi de silva.

TO THE MODERATER:
THIS IS SOMETHING NEVER WRITTEN BY ME….THIS IS TOTALLY DISGRACEFUL. THIS IS NOT MY OPINION. CAN YOU PLEASE EXPLAIN TO ME HOW THIS HAS HAPPENED?
EVERYONE, CHECK YOUR NAME BY GOOGLING IT AND MAKE SURE THAT THE SAME HAS NOT BEEN DONE TO YOU OR MAYBE 'SOMEONE' LIKE THE PHARMACEUTICAL COMPANIES THOUGHT IT DELIGHTFULLY FUNNY.
I FIND THIS SICK.
IF PEOPLE WEREN'T LEFT HALF TO 3/4 DEAD FROM THIS POISON MAYBE I WOULDN'T BE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT MY FEELINGS, BUT A WEEK ON THE LOUNGE, TOO SICK TO PICK UP THE PHONE AND SHOULD BE BACK IN HOSPITAL, I WOULD LIKE AN EXPLANATION….HOW DID THIS LIE FIND IT'S WAY FROM YOUR SITE TO GOOGLE? I used quite a few small packets of this cream a few years ago and stopped applying it because whenever I used it I felt like I had flu. I can honestly say before using the cream I got a cold probably once a year, I was never ill. Since and continually I am ill 5 or 6 times a year at least, I catch everything. I can only attribute it to this cream. There is no other explanation as to why someone perfectly healthy would become someone susceptible to every little cold or flu going. I hav not been able to read through the entierity of this thread but has anyone come across anything than can circumvent this?

Thank you so much for responding. Mandi I am praying you will being to get better. Michelle, I read a few pages back that were feeling better. Please tell me this is still the case. It gives me hope. I only used 10 applications on my chest, and for some reason it never bled or crusted. Never changed the skin at all, so I am hopeful that maybe I can get better also. Right now I am dealing with a very painful blocked salivary gland that the doctor said is normally seen in patients with HIV, which I do not have, which means its my immune system. I have started to see a medical intuitive who comes highly recommended I am so desperate. He told me I have a very bad infection from the cream and has me on L-Lysine and trace minerals. My body didn't seem to like the trace minerals and I broke out in a rash so I had to stop that. The only good thing is that with every new symptom, the previous symptom seems to get better. The nerve pain was the worst. I would love to hear from people who eventually got better.
Lisa I was better for 2 months and now I have flu again I am so back to the same shit no immune system. I think there are 2 lots affected. Poor mandi, Tracy and Richard that there symptoms are so bad that they can't even function and then there are the likes of me who keep getting flu symptoms and feel generally unwell but manage to go to work in-between and function relatively normally though sometimes with difficulty. I pray that you start feeling better.xxxx

Andy without a doubt it's the Aldara. I have been getting the same as you, just when you think it's all over there comes another bout of flu. It's all really depressing because there is nothing that can be done about it except pumping those minerals, vitamins and eating the good stuff. I am so sick of it I can only imagine what the others that a really sick must go though on a daily basis. Keep positive attitude, I know it is difficult and unfortunately one has just got to take the punches as they come and deal with them. It's very sad after always enjoying really good health to become a sickly person. Aldara must be wiped off the planet before it injures more people. Strength Andy. I feel lucky, since my basal cell was on my arm; the biopsy got most of it, but there was a little left. The application spot was about the size of a drop; I got 25 uses out of each packet. My Dermatologist said that the area got a little larger during treatment, because there was more cancer left than they thought. Anyway, I did begin having side-effects in the latter part of my 6 weeks, and so far I do not know of any lingering ones, and my arm is healing up quite nicely, but it is still a darker color there. It was way after using the Imiquimod cream (generic Aldora), that I dscovered (online) that it is actually a topical CHEMOTHERAPY drug/treatment; and that info is not easy to run across. No one here mentions this fact, in the posts I read (of course I did not have time to read all). Once you know that, the side effects make more sense; we all know what people on Chemo go through, including what it does to their immune system. Well, now I know that I also went through Chemo, but I, like all of you (I assume) were not told that we were being put on Chemo. Good luck to all; and my prayers to you. I will refuse it as a treatment next time, and pray that I receive no more side effects from my one time of treatment.

We do all know that but chemo is an immune suppressant, imiquimod is an immune modifier. It effects cytokines and changes your immune system, if you are unlucky forever, so you see there is a difference. Upsetting cytokines is extremely dangerous. So that is what the difference is so it is not really a chemotherapy at all, even though all those idiot doctors think it is.

Some of you might want to try Nanosil Silver-Spray Hydro Gel on your damaged skin. The Oncologist suggested/required my husband to use it 4 times a day to protect his skin when they started the external radiation treatments for his prostate cancer. He is continuing to use it now that they have inserted the radiated seeds, since the radiation is now much stronger. You do not need a prescription; the hospital pharmacy hadit to sell, but our own pharmacist could not get it, but sid that the 32.95 I found it for, was a good price. I have ordered 2 bottles at a time, several times already. When the Wound Care Center treated my leg ulcer, the last treatment was with Silver Nitrate; between that and the vein surgery, the ulcer was healed in less than a week....so I used some of the Nanosil Silver Spray Gel on my skin cancer after finishing with the Aldora applications, and I began using it on the bumps on my face that may be Rosacea, and it does seem to help keep them calmed down and smoother. I asked my dermatologist about Nanosil Silver and another product, and she said that the Nanosil might actually work. I have also found a Silver-Nitrate soap, that makes my skin feel very smooth, and neither product stains the skin.

Aldara is DANGEROUS - I suffer from Aldara every day of my life. I suffered two seizures day 28 and 29 before I stopped taking Aldara three years ago. My left forearm is disabled. My spine hurts to move. Daily burning sensations and constant headache's. I suffer about 15-25 convulsions everyday. I experience immediate constant convulsions after I run or exert myself. My fingers, my knees, my joints, my hip flexures, are all brittle, painful, and ache to flex or move. Aldara crippled my physical strength and activity by more than 80%. Aldara crippled my central nervous system. There is no known cure. I'm suicidal every day since.
