Arrest made in Texas polygamy case

“When children live in a pretty secluded environment and they're as sheltered as these children, it's very difficult to get them to talk to you and to open up. If you can get them to a neutral place, they're a lot more prone to answer you truthfully”

Texas state troopers have made an arrest in their search of a rural compound built by polygamist leader Warren Jeffs. via Topeka Capital-Journal

I wish that the news media would report the facts in this case and make sure it is very clear that this situation is not the Mormon church- The church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. It was the Fundamentalists of the Church of Jesus Christ. It makes me very angry to see this head line and know that the information given is not close to the truth.

I noticed how the Anti's are getting the mileage out of this story and they don't care about the truth as long as in the end they can connect it with the LDS Church further back to JS. The First Baptist Church buses was a nice touch to further inflame differences between Evangelicals (Anti-Mormons) against the Mormons. The Southern Baptist are the biggest sponsors of Anti-Mormon miniseries and the cult ministries.
I don't view them as very patriotic, they were the ones for the Civil war and now they want to take away religious freedoms from others because they don't know how to have tolerance for differences. Not too Christian, I'd say.
If someone was being abused then sure check it out but to raid the homes of others is just wrong.
On bit of irony, I saw something awhile back that Evangelicals were now practicing polygamy. Is this true? If it is then it make them even more of hypocrites.

Christian or Evangelical Polygamy is BIGGER than Mormon Polygamy. It's just not know about by other Christians.

Your figures don't add up. According to the link you provided..." Henkel says there are *fewer than 50,000 Christian polygamists*, but experts cannot substantiate this.

Just because someone 'hits' or looks at a web-site, doesn't mean they are registered polygamists.

What about the undocumented statistics from "other fundamental LDS":

If you add up all the 'other Mormon Fundamentalists' you come up with another 20,000 "listed members".

The point is... polygmay is firmly entrenched in LDS with Mormon roots.

But hey, who's counting?

How in the world did anyone let this HUGE compund continue to grow as it did? Why wasn't there any investigation sooner? Was this not foreseen? Duh the leader is in prison...check on his FOLLOWERS every now and then to make sure rape isn't still happening out there and all the other CUCKOO stuff.Like it or not it is just plain retarded what they were allowed to do out there. No wonder we had terrorists cells in the US. Jesus Christ died and rose again for us. That we may repent of our sins and accept him as our lord and savior. Not so that a cult can hope to mask there perverted ways by using HIS holy name as part of there title. "latter day saints of ..." What ever is done in secret always comes to light.

Why is it that you never hear about this in the news at all? Oh because it isn't true! Only mormons practice this mess. Why are you so protective of your lifestyle? Its so nasty. What number wife is in the picture with you? When will your child marry? At 12. And how old will her husband be? 60? That is nasty!!! Just give them the gift of niagra for a present.

I really don't mean to pick at you but your post brought up a couple of issues I have seen in other posts that are just blowing my mind.
First, who cares what kind of buses "rescued" these children. The most important thing is they are out of that hellhole!
And then you say people's religious freedoms are being taken away. Hello???? This is not religion!
I live in TN. There are churches who practice snake handling only a few miles from my home. I personally find this absurd. However, if everyone is consenting adults, I say,..."FOOLS, GO FOR IT!"
BUT, if children are involved, it is called child endangerment and everyone responsible for putting children in harm's way should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
In this case, this is nothing more than an elaborate pedophile ring and it is high time the law stepped in and broke it up! I agree with Joanna,... "what took so long?"
Religious freedom will prevail in this country; the rape of children by nasty, old men will never be tolerated.

Why is it that you never hear about this in the news at all? Oh because it isn't true! Only mormons practice this mess.-I DIDN'T CREATE THOSE EVANGELICAL WEBSITES...SO THEY MUST BE TRUE...THEY ARE THERE...AND BECAUSE THE MEDIA DOESN'T REPORT IT...MEANS THAT IT DOESN'T EXIST??

WTF is wrong with your brain??? I am NOT FLDS...I have never been and NEVER will be. Mormons have not practiced this in over 120 years and it is ignorant and negligent for you to say otherwise.

MY grandfather had 1 wife..when she passed away THEN AND ONLY THEN did he married again. All of his brothers and sisters married 1 person as well.

My mother got married, divorced and then remarried 3 years later.

all of my uncles are STILL married to 1 woman and no others.

all of my cousins...1 wife/husband and NO others.

my wife and I got married and I was 23 and she was 26. We only have 2 kids...that wouldn't work well in that religion. We waited 5 years to have kids..also would not work in that religion. The majority of Mormon kids at BYU get married when they're 20 and that is not far from the social norms.

my brother married then got divorced.

Look...for over 150 years, my family has NOT been involved in ANY polygamy...so why are you pushing this on members of the LDS Church when NOT ALL of our families were invovled in this?

PLUS this FDLS has NOTHING to do with us...no more than the RLDS that broke away and then got bought by another faith because they went bankrupt.

PLEASE DO NOT BE SO IGNORANT AND BLIND TO RECOGNIZE THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO FAITHS.

EVERYONE IS CAPABLE OF ADMITTING AND ACCEPTING EPISCOPALIAN AS "CATHOLIC LIGHT"...BUT THEY STILL ACCEPT THEM AS SEPARATE RELIGIONS REGARDLESS OF THE SIMILARITIES!

no the point is...when the LDS faith was told that they could have statehood if they stopped polygamy, THEY DID!

We follow the laws of the land. It is part of our articles of faith...these idiots are breaking so many laws that they have 2 of their leaders that are official sex offenders! We do NOT have sex offenders as part of our General Authorities...IF any were to be found to be doing that crap...they WILL be excommunicated IMMEDIATELY!

I am fully on board with you on everything you said and have said so on other posts but this thread I may not have conveyed that as well. Sorry. I think that all should be able to practice their religion as long as it is within the boundaries of the laws of the land so you have no argument with me on what you said, and by the way, said so well. Thanks. I do have a problem with the bigotry of the Anti-Mormons who have come after the LDS Church and see them gleefully trying to connect the RLDS with the LDS Church. This I do have a problem with, others who have no religious tolerance no matter how absurd ones may think they are. So I am glad that you seem to be one that has religious tolerance but when it come to the well fare of the Children I am with you all the way.

The RLDS doesn't even exist anymore...it is part of the Community of Christ...we're against Polygamy so it is a wash..there anti-polygamy stance means little because in that discussion, we agree now.

But I will be a member of the Jewish Faith before the LDS and Community of Christ are EVER joined together...no...better than that...I will be dead..

Hi Paul. I would like to state again that I was not picking at you. I didn't realize how snippy my post sounded until I just read it again. I have followed this story since it broke in the news and it makes my skin crawl.
I don't know enough about the RLDS or the LDS to even comment about that but I do understand where you are coming from here. Here, we have mostly Baptist. We have primitive baptist, missionary baptist, freewill baptist, southern baptist, etc. They are all a little different in some ways. Some churches have rituals (snake handling and drinking poison)so absurd that no denomination will even claim them. I personally think the same of these freaks and their pedophile ring. The only denomination they belong to is evil.
So keep the faith in your God and let's hope he keeps these children safe from harm forever more.
PEACE :)

Sorry, I miss spoke...it is the FLDS not the RLDS. FLDS are the Fundamental Latter Day Saints. The ones in Texas who have been raided. I think they call themselves 'Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints' and we are 'THE Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints'. So close, no wonder everyone gets us mixed up. If I am wrong on this please set it straight.

The RLDS Church still exists. We just went to the shorter name Community of Christ in 2001. The church still uses the longer name for business purposes. The ownership of the name Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is retained by the church.
