Those commenting here fail to understand a sign, "gun free zone", or a law banning guns on the premises, has no impact on criminal behavior, because they choose not to understand.
With the qualifications in the subject law, I prefer the adults at my children's school be armed in defense of my children, as opposed to unarmed.
That segment of the population that will not defend themselves are worthless to the rest as they will not defend others either.
'Armed in defense of my children'?! How do you know that it's not your kids that the adults are going to be armed against? How can be sure that the adults are not going to shoot the children to save themselves? Open your eyes. It's a dog eat dog world, and in America all the dogs are packing guns, and not afraid to use them on each other to save their own asses.

If it is one of "YOUR" children that are armed and ready to shoot someone that was picking on them or a teacher that made them "feel bad" because they got a bad grade, then they should have every right to protect themselves and the other children. You're right, in the U.S., we're NOT AFRAID of saving our own asses or most of the rest of the world that is over-run with such madmen causing terror on others.

If you don't like it, stay where you are. Besides, we beat the British army over 200 years ago and then came to their rescue in two world wars. Yet, they still think they know better than us. What a laugh.

GREAT IDEAAAAA !!!!!!!!!!

Liberals portray students as impressionable, innocent, harmless little children. Liberals want to give these harmless children every Right in the book and more. The ACLU consistently challenges the search of personal lockers (as if they already know that guns, knifes, and drugs are hidden there).

When in fact some of these innocent children will shoot you in the face with a 9mm and cut your throat in the blink of an eye.

They are devious and dangerous and have no place in society. Their threats should be met with counter measures - by shooting and killing the little bastards before they create more victims.

That comment makes no sense! Do you suggest that in your world the students are so violent the teachers may need to protect themselves with deadly force?

In the U.S. we choose freedom over security long ago in favor of individual responsibility rather than empower our government more. UK Parliament took away citizens right of self defense with a firearm as sure as every despot disarms its citizens.

That segment of the population that will not defend themselves are worthless to the rest as they will not defend others either. There is nothing about owning a firearm that would force one to use it against another but better be available than not.

Expert I believe you live in some padded cell some where in Ohio or behind some wall that protects your house. I bet you even have bars on your windows.

When I went to Oceanside High School downtown all I had to worry about was the knives. They students carry automatic weapons now? They must be getting them from the marine base next door.

Wonder where the other posting on this went? Maybe I was too intense with Anne, anyway. To summarize any teacher that wants to go through special training to protect and possible take a bullet for my child should get a medal. Realize these teachers will not be wearing bullet proof vests.
This one (1) district in Texas only allowed teachers to carry because the nearest police station is 30 minutes away and they do not have a police presence on school grounds. This issue was debated for 1 year at the district before they approved it.
"If you will check the facts. This school is not but about 14 minutes from the police and county dept. of law enforcement. The story and school lied. Now trust them with a gun.

Wonder if you knew how long it took the shooters at Columbine to kill just the first student, would that have any impact on your mind set?

Some have a mindset that have the idea that being a defenseless victim is somehow an obligation and acting in the defense of others is vigilantism.

Columbine in choosing to ingnore they had a problem, became a victim before the shootings.
Bombs were hid and plans were made for weeks or even years.
I would never defend a "school shooter" but I cannot defend this school district's decision.
The fact they lied to get national support should speak volumes.

what a sad statement about the USA when teachers in some po-dunk tiny desert town feel the need to carry guns in school... USA citizens must be ready to kill other citizens even in schools to be safe?

There was a time when everyone could carry a gun, un-concealed. That's why Jesse James never got to rob one single bank.

It is you gun nuts who commit all the crims.
That's just it, it's not all us that own guns that are nuts, it's as you said yourself "GUN NUTS" in my opinion meaning people who are nuts that have guns and do things like that. The majority of us are "VERY RESPONSIBLE" gun owners not gun nuts as you call us, but due to the nuts in this world, you want to punish all of us. It isn't guns that kill people it is the person behind that gun, and smart responsible people do not use guns in that manner so what good is stricter gun control going to do. Do you think for one minute a nut like that wouldn't get a gun one way or another, you will still have the same issue cause gun nuts usually get their's illegally. Therefore the crimes will still be committed, nothing will be solved! The only thing that might happen is all gun owners will be punished for a few rotten apples, that's not right either in my opinion. What about drunk drivers, they are irresponsible driving drunk and cause accidents killing people too, so are we going to ban cars now too cause they kill people? In my opinion it's the same prinicpal, just a different weapon. It is the people handling the equipment, car, gun or whatever not the car or gun itself that are responsible for killing people. Again the same thing, you get a few irresponsible people that do stupid things and everyone pays. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying that what happened in Conneticut wasn't a terrible tragedy, cause it definitely was but don't blame all gun owners for something some mentally deranged person did cause we don't all fit the same catergory as people like that! And to blame the NRA is really carrying it a bit far too in my opinion, what do they have to do with that tragedy, they have absolutely nothing to do with it. They aren't responsible for that persons actions, that's plain stupid to even think that!
