Yeah, reconsider! We moved to Tn almost a year ago. Gov. corruption is rampant, even more so than they were in Fl. the small town we moved to is beautiful, but has more of a drug and alchol problem than the much larger city we moved from (east central fl. cocoa beach area) If you hire someone they may or may not show up and good luck getting a phone call returned no matter who it is. It seems the residents don't realize they can also make outgoing calls. When a worker doesn't show up til week later, you can't just say "go home" b/c there isn't anyone else to call. Pride in workmanship is, so far as we can tell, non-exstant. Unless you are a devout church goer, friends are hard to find even if you are a good person otherwise. People here tend to be very judgemental as a whole. and everything centers on what church you attend and how right winged you are.

I think you will love TN. As a third generation Tennessean I can tell you about the most beautiful hills and valleys of any place in the world. All four seasons are right with the calendar, when itís summer it is hot and humid but the lakes and springs are abundant for a quick cool off and some fun with the family. As a matter of fact the man with the dim view of TN is totally right, family and faith in God are a major part of our culture. We believe in the Christian way of life. We work hard and we live life to the fullest. When itís winter it is cold and we have just enough snow to make it beautiful but it melts off by the end of the day and we go about our business as usual. Sports is big in TN, especially what we call football. Music is a major part of our culture and since many of your ancestors settled in TN, you will find much of your Irish heritage in our music and dancing. Cotton-eyed Joe is a form of your stomp dancing. My motherís maiden name was Rader, and she had red hair and the temper to go with it but her heart was as big as all outdoors. My life was influenced by Irish blood. The autumn are majestic with the color of all the foliage turning into a mirage of brilliance. Spring is unbelievable with a burst of flowering dogwood trees, rhododendrons and every color Iris in the rainbow.
The people are the friendliest you will ever meet. But they expect a person who doesnít believe in and worship the our Lord and God must have something wrong with them. He is right they donít fit in, as you can tell by the other response you received, especially in the smaller towns. We also donít like Yankees, or those who come from the Northern United States of America because they are rude and have no manners or class. Southerns are very friendly and polite, answering each other with grace and respect, by replying a yes sir and no maham. We talk slow and we ponder things. We value education and in TN you will find get universities which draw people from all over the world here. Many people come here and fall in love with our state and never want to go leave.
Depending on which part of TN you will be living in, depends on the personality and landscape. There are three stars on our flag and that refers to the three states of TN. Over in the western part of the state, close to the Mississippi River there is a large population of black African Americans. This is a result of the civil war when we fought between the north and the south, after their freedom they settled in Memphis because of the commerce that was going on there. As a result, their culture is strongly influenced by that factor. The land is flat and you will hear a lot of blues and jazz coming from the drinking and eating establishments. In Middle TN you will find hills and all sorts of country music; friendly people and a lot of industry and agriculture. We love beautiful horses. In East Tennessee you will find the most beautiful mountains you can imagine and the people are down to earth and proud. This is where you will find much of your Irish influence in their music and their traditions.
The people of Tennessee are proud, industrious, and intelligent. There is a church on every corner and a park in every community.

The people of Tennessee are proud, industrious, and intelligent. There is a church on every corner and a park in every community. We have hearts big as all outdoors when people are in trouble and need help we have always given more than any other state. We believe in the American way of life, and throughout the ages, when we have been asked to help fight for it we have always had more volunteers to fight than any other state in the Union, thus comes our co-name ďThe VolunteersĒ. Our state flower if the Iris, our tree is the dogwood, and our bird is the humming bird. If you are an Irishman or woman you will love it here.

God Bless you! BMc

I would not move to or near Ardmore , TN especially if you are an animal lover. The well informed mayor of Ardmore has banned American Pit Bull Terriers , saying they are used for protection by drug dealers and dog fighters. Thousands of responsible bulldog owners are dumbfounded by this new law. This guy is also a high school principle his name is Bob Hasting. There has never been a reported incident of a pit bull attacking anyone in Ardmore. All breeders and owners are staying away and will not spend one dime in this town. If you ever visited you would not want to live there anyway.

My family and I just moved to Knoxville Tennessee from Pennsylvania and we just love it here! I'm sure you will be fine - you picked a good state to go to college in.... I've visited Nashville and Knoxville for years and always found the average person to be friendly and courteous. Can't say the same for Pennsylvania! I've never been to South Tennessee but I imagine it's the same. Good luck!

Christianity? Where? All I hear are bigots claiming to be christians. God's word is to love ALL our neighbors, and judge not. I say treat everyone as a human and let God do the Judging
