"Sweetbrier, Alan Jackson's 135-acre Franklin property that has been home to Jackson, his wife and their three daughters for the past 12 years, is on the market."

This property would make for an excellent replacement of the Tennessee Governor's Mansion and would better represent the people of the State of Tennessee than would the property and neighborhood were the current Tennessee Governor's Mansion is located...

The Governor holds a very important office and should live in a home reflecting the office. However, a 38 million dollar mansion, isn't that a little extravagant. Is the state in better financial shape than I thought? I guess with our government throwing around Trillions and Billions, 38 million doesn't sound like much. I, for one, do not want that house note and do not believe Tennessee can afford it either.

It would be fitting to have the Tennessee General Assembly to purchase the Alan Jackson mansion in time for Ron Ramsey being elected as the next governor of Tennessee! There is simply more land and interior room available out at the AJ mansion (and the AJ mansion is of relatively newer construction)...

I would suggest that the Tennessee General Assembly would first offer to pay the currently assessed tax appraisal value for the Alan Jackson mansion.

The current governor's mansion could be easily converted into an emergency home/shelter/training facility for young pregnant women with no other place to go.

Can Tennessee afford a purchase of this magnitude? I don't begrudge the governor a nice house but I am just wondering if we can afford that expense at this time?

How can the State of Tennessee not afford to purchase the Alan Jackson Stweetbier Mansion for someone as deserving as Lt. Gov. Ron Ramsey...?

I am thinking that most foward thinking, college educated Republicans will agree with me that the purchase of the Alan Jackson Sweetbier estate as the next State of Tennessee Governor's Mansion would, in the long run, be good investment for the State of Tennessee...this is a down market and the state could now get the best terms for this property - even if it meant taking out a bond issue to pay for Sweetbier.

How would buying the mansion be a good investment for the state? That's not intended to be a smartbutt question. I am just wondering about it. I have learned a lot by asking questions and getting different views on issues that I'm not very informed on.

This is the same state who is laying off people because of budget cuts. How can the governor move into a $38 million home and tell state employees there is no money to pay them?

Alan, we know you are having a hard time dumping, er, selling your overblown, ego driven property, but don't you think that trying to dump it on the taxpayers of Tenn is kind of cheezy?

Daily Horoscope for December 20

Pisces

If you-know-who has been getting on your nerves recently, matters will soon come to a head and force you to take drastic action. As Mars turns tail in your sixth house, you might finally lose your rag with someone at work who's been testing your patience to the limit. Stand your ground if you feel you're being messed about in some way. Clear the air if needs be, but don't create a really nasty atmosphere by throwing an eye-popping tantrum. Take care of any infections.
