The saddest part of this story is that there are so many others like it. Such terrible, terrible things we've done.

And we still seem to have not learned our lesson.

I am a proud American, but I am ashamed of our conduct towards those who were here before us.

That makes you a good American too - which is more important than being proud !!
HAPPY NEW YEAR - 2009 MAY NEED ALL GOOD AMERICANS.
With best wishes from a small Norwegian town where time is right now 17:30 (=5:30 pm) and we are soon to get seated for our traditional New Year Eve dinner. In some 6 hours we'll salute the new year - at which moment you still have to wait another 6-7 hours I guess.
Take care and of course don't forget Wounded Knee....

One year ago - in 2 days from now - I was in here.
Strange, in the meantime a black US president has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize - somewhat reluctantly, but fully deserved. This year has added to history. Did it make the world better?
Wounded Knee is unchangable history and worthy of never being forgotten. The human being is hosting some elements of self-destrudction. Can we ever be able to change that?

I think you are all too engaged in your daily problems to even think about life and your own history. America today: A giant with cancer.
I prefer being a dwarf with a flue.....
