A state agency's web site has been hacked and millions of social security numbers and credit and debit card numbers belonging to approximately 77 percent of South Carolina residents have been compromised.

All I can say is ... meh. SSNs are no longer useful anyway, and any alert person with a credit card knows to call the card company and change the number as soon as possible, and how to watch for fraudulent charges.
It's the new crime, we're safer all around in exchange for coping with cyber crimes instead, I say it's a nice trade off, instead of a bullet to the soft tissue, you have to call your bank once in a while.
