So Far Only 9 Couples Seek Civil Unions in RI

Few Rhode Islanders are seeking civil unions more than a month after the state began offering them to gay couples.

Good! There is no reason for Rhode Islanders to get a civil union, especially when they can go to any neighboring state and get legally married, AND have that marriage recognized by the state.

I hadn't seen that anywhere, but it wouldn't suprise me if that were the case.

Supposedly the Gov is going to try to push the marriage bill again next year.

Full Faith and Credit has not been determined to apply in these cases yet. And then there is still DOMA to contend with, but at least Obama is not going to defend it in court. We just the right case to come along so that the Supremes get off their butts and do something.

So-called "civil unions" make no sense when couples are allowed to marry in several states and D.C.

"Separate but equal" is NEVER EQUAL.

And if one is opposed to gay and lesbian people marrying because it somehow "violates Christianity" or is an "affront to God", then why are the people who say they believe this, NOT protesting the marriages of atheists, Buddhists, and Hindus ?! Because they DON'T EVEN BELIVE IN GOD !!!

The fact that these people do not protest these marriages shows they are less concerned with what is an affront to God, than they are proud of publicly demonstrating their homophobia and bigotry.
