It is but it is not as bad as some think. The new BMI scale pretty much puts everyone in the obese level. According to the BMI being used. Michael Jordan, in his prime would be considered obese. I was told I should weight between 150 and 160. I am 5-6 I have not weighed that since my jr year in high school, when I was running track. Even then I was way too skinny. There is a weight problem in the US. Just not as crazy as some say it is.

Well, there's a drive through for just about every service. Just watch the lines at the drive through at banks and fast food places compared to the 10 feet you would walk to wait on the shorter line to get your banking and food order. Convenience leads to laziness for many.

Not to mention, too much fast food in America to start with. Do we really need to eat "3rd pounders" at BK? Guess we can just blame them and subsequently sue them the old fashioned American way when we get fat like that class action suit against McDonalds.

Forget about BMI. The "naked eye" makes it obvious if you take a look at most Americans these days. Get up off your behind and work it!

No. It's not a problem, because most of the obese are Repuklicans. It's good, because they will die off before a modified healthcare program is enacted. Check out the following web site. Looks like Chambersburg.

GO BILL!!! You rock! If you watch the news....you would see that OVER 50% of Americans are overweight or obese....That means Democrats too...

The children really need help. They are the future. If you think about it...our children may die before we do. That's just wrong....

Obesity is a huge problem, especially with the underclasses. Watch them as they order at the drive-through and feed their kids McNuggets and fries, watch them as they waddle through Wal Mart loading their carts with soft drinks and chips, watch them as they smoke outside the convenience stores and call centers where they work, watch them guzzle beers in seedy bars while playing drinking games. It's really sad. Most Americans don't know much about nutrition and keep tryig the fad diets like it's a magic pill.

I know...tell me about it! Americans need to get with it! Mcky D's is NOT the answer in a situation like this. We need to encourage our children to exercise and practice good, healthy nutrion habits back into their lifestyle.

,

Unless you ban all video games, and the internet, and TV to anyone under the age of 18 you can forget it. Kids today sit on their bums all day long. The amish take in about 8000 cal a day. Lots of bacon and sasuage, BUT they are also moving and grooving all day long. Our problem is not the food but the lack of movement we have created for ourselves.

Very true....But we should be encouraging exercise...not denying it!! Even adults don't get enough physical activity to burn their extra calories. Monkey see, monkey do...

The problem is not the kids, the food or the video games... It is the parenting!!! To often people blame video games, food and anything else that relates to problems children have. we should place the blame where it belongs and in MOST cases it is parenting.

Who is qualified to say what fat is?And if the
Government doesnt want us fat, well its a no brainer,
ban tasty cakes, chips, dips, ice cream and all other
junk food from the shelves at the grocers. It can be
controlled,if it doesnt exist.Did you ever look at the weight charts? Well, they work when your 25,
but they dont work when your 50.Old people get
plump,its natural.

Also, hormones are put into our milk, and I understand
some kind of chemical is put into our food,to increase the appetite, chemical components in the
food of children, might cause obesity,in that case,
talk to the government.

90% of it is because people just don't have any respect for them selves!!!! They know what they are putting in their mouths and they know they shouldn't be sitting on the couch, but they CHOOSE to.......... And now everyone else has to pay for their chioces. They can't work because they are too fat to stand on their feet, but they will fight tooth and nail to squeeze in the car to go to McDonalds. Since they can't work they have goverment food stamps and assess insurance compaments of the working class. When they call 911 for the ambulance because they are 35 years old, having their second heart attack and their diabeties is out of control, it is the poor EMT's backs straining to lift their 400 and 500 lbs of lard into the ambulance. SELF RESPECT and SELF PRIDE where did it go???

Yeah...where did it go? People just don't care. I was watching the Tyra Banks show the other day and there was this woman that WANTED to be 1,000 pounds!!!! What's up with that??!!?! And the husband was helping her to get even fatter. The poor woman can't even walk ten steps without having to sit down! But you're right, if they want fast food, they can surely get into their cars and go get it. This woman is absolutley nuts! It wouldn't suprise me if her husband ends up leaving her after he encouraged her to get fat! He is skinny and fit, while she is fat, fat, and oh yeah...FAT! I mean, who would want to be 1000 pounds?!?!?!?? The world needs help and we can't seem to do anyhting these days. AMERICA....WHAT'S UR PROBLEM??? WE ARE THE FATTEST NATION TODAY!
