The Amish story is fake. Check it out on Snopes.com .
We live in South-Central PA. Surrounded by alot of state game land Hubby swears he saw a mountain lion last winter. Said it ran out of the woods beside our house, through our yard and across the road in front of his truck as he was leaving for work. Now if it wouldn't be for the fact this was at 5 in the morning, I'd swear he stayed too long at the club!
We called the game commission and someone came out to investigate. Only comments he made were "just some really big cat" and "there are no mountain lions in PA".

Near Perryopolis a few years ago a pair of enormous and sleek mountain lions crossed near two bikers on rt 51 during late afternoon.

It is hard to believe even for the people who actually see them, so it is understandable that some would have a hard time believing as well. Perhaps they are being funded for repopulation.

New Years Eve a few years ago ,a few people swore they saw a jackalope ?

We have bear , coyotes , fox and a few bobcats . Pa is good hunting grounds for predators. Just because the game warden says there are none it's because he just doesn't feel like saying yes or no. I've met a couple of game wardens and they have more rights than the local police , act it and are a little goofy.

My Mother just saw a young Mt. Lion in her yard. She lives outside Three Springs, PA. This is the first one she has ever seen.

A lot of goofy to say the least . You are right , they have more power than local police . I spoke to the game warden from the south mountain shooting more than a few years ago. He had more radios and guns in his patrol car and stories about what he saw and why it took him so long to call for local police . He left the county with his goofy stories . "That poor game warden and all the grilling he had to go through" F y'll the guy bears watching .
