My same-sex partner and I (we're women) are considering moving to OR from N. Fl. Florida is pretty much screwed, both politically and in the job market. My partner is almost finished with nursing school, and I'm into horticulture. Here's my questions: how reasonable is it to think that a same-sex couple, one black, one white, will be treated well in Eugene/Corvallis/Portland? My son lived in Eugene until recently and says that it wouldn't be a problem, but I'd like to get some more opinions, as this is a huge move, if it happens. The last thing that I'd ever want to do is to have my partner in a dangerous situation (she's black). We have pleanty of backwoods, redneck douchebags here, but there're also a LOT of black people. Is it worth a plane ticket to check it out? From what my son's told me, and from what I've read online, it seems that the PNW is awesome and beautiful!
