Why dont they put them on public lands away from all residential areas?

Because it's not the government doing the composting.

Do you really want the government doing anything like this? Have you seen how well the DMV and USPS are ran in this country? Like most things, it's best left to private companies who actually care how good of a job they do.

the government doesnt have to do it. Just lease the land for it to be put on.

I dunno, I just don't trust the government at all to have their hands in something like this. I really believe that private companies and locals would do a far better job.

Does the government lease land for other similar things? I'm not totally sure if they do or if they don't. Frankly I think that the government does most things wrong.

Personally I think the whole thing is way overblown. There's only a handful of people still in opposition which is led by a wealthy guy who lives 3,000 miles away in New Hampshire and a few random people in CV who are never happy with anything. It's like the whole solar panel fiasco all over again.

we the people are the government. many people enjoy skiing on public land and the government seems to keep the money losing hands off for the most part.

There are more than just a handful of people who are opposed to this. Solar farms don't stink or attract vermin and seagulls or secrete pathogens. The person wanting to do this has NO background imposting on this level. Remember Chicken Little was right

The government leases hundreds of thousands of acres to farmers for grazing rights. Both BLM and USFS. I am not suggesting the government run it. I am just suggesting it be put on government land away from civilization. I do not want it in my yard. I do not believe the people wanting to put it in know their ass from a whole in the ground when it comes to composting.

The latest rumor is that if they don't do it at Kitty Litter, the guy will be doing it closer to town on land that the public CANNOT stop because of a difference in zoning. In all reality, doing it at the kitty litter plant is probably the least of all evils.

And yea, there were WAY more people opposed to the solar panels and that went in anyway and it all turned out fine. There are about half a dozen crazies against this and it will go in too and everything will be fine.

They aren't even bringing food scraps to be composted anymore so there won't be anything to stink.

This is a whole lot of panic over nothing.

Then they need to revamp their application. They are liars and have every intention of bringing in all 3 types. I bet no one wants it in town. I dont want it at my house.

You are way behind the times if that's what you think. Another organization will be taking all of the food scraps so you don't have to worry about that anymore. They have to keep it class 3 though in case a food scrap slips in and someone freaked out about it.

How do you know what they intend when you haven't asked the people who are doing this personally? Everyone hides behind their computers flinging mud instead of talking with the people like normal calm rational humans beings. What happened to the days when someone would talk with their neighbor about their issue with them instead of running off to the "authorities" to complain about it? Is this what we've become as human beings? Hiding in anonymity and throwing verbal abuse?

Why go through your life always expecting the worst out of everyone?

If all you ever did in life was sit online reading the "news" or get all of your local information from the desert gossip papers "letters to the editors" section then I can see how you think the sky is falling. Shut your laptop off, go outside and garden, read a book, go for a walk and realize that the sky isn't falling.

i agree we should talk with people who know first hand. the good folks of northplains could probably help us to understand what we are facing here.

So basically you are admitting to never talking with the people putting in the facility and are instead choosing to only search out the worst case scenarios.

That would be a pointless talk to talk with people in north plains because 1. They aren't the ones doing it here, and 2. the one here will be nothing like the one in north plains. Talk to the people in aumsville if you are still too afraid to talk to the parties putting in the cv facility. They have been operating for years without a single complaint.

They arent going to put it anywhere in or near our town because we will fight it,I know many people whos farms and lands abutt that property, this is insane..there are lawyers who are standing by..This shall not take place..they should have put it out at alkali lake, thats already a toxic dump out there, NOT near people homes and buisneses!

There is not one single farm adjacent to that property. Do you know remember ages ago when that place was a working kitty litter plant? That kitty litter plant was a million times worse of a neighbor than a few piles of lawn clippings will ever be.

Tell me exactly what in a class 2 composting site would be toxic?

The grass clippings? Tree leaves? Christmas Trees?

You should be spending your time trying to hunt down some anxiety pills instead of worrying about what everyone else is up to.

I think those solar panels all over this desert are screwing with your brain.

Its not the types 1 and 2 that is causing the stink stupid Its the type 3 that no one wants that is the problem in everyway shape and form. If type 3 is removed from the application the problem will be solved.

I agree with you then. I live near Kitty Litter as well. I'm not worried about class 3 to tell you the truth, but I can understand why people would be worried about it. Meat and dairy are not typically composted, although there really is nothing wrong with doing so if you do it right. Class 1 and 2 are completely harmless. Unless you are afraid of grass clippings or composting Christmas trees? LOL
