My sister is currently an inmate at the CCC Facility. She has told me that not only does the sexual harassment happen from the guards, but even more abundantly is the sexual escapades between prisoners. She does not wish to witness sex between two or more prisoners, but she is forced to. And when she tells the guards, the guards simply tell the prisoners involved that there is a snitch and they should stop for a few days. Using the word "SNITCH" is a control technique the guards use in order to limit the amount of 'complaints' they get on the subject. Something needs to be done. Prisoners should not have to deal with public sex. It is sexual harassment, and they should be able to sue the facility if the guards do not do more to make the facility harassment free.

My mother is in CCCF and she used to write to me all the time. Now, I have not heard from her in three months. I hope the same thing that is happening to these poor women is not happening to my mother. I will surely raise hell.If nothing is being done about it now, it is just going to get worse. And I pray to God that this ends. People that have family or friends in here we all need to get together and figure something out to help these women. WE REALLY NEED TO PRAY FOR THESE WOMEN. I hope some sees this message. GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

my wife used to work in the kitchen but does not now,but she complained that the womens breakroom that the male guards would come in the breakroom and talk with the girls and the bathroom stalls are in there and the guards could see into them,so she would not use them, some women like my wife have been abused by other men,and things like this make them uncomfortable and should not be happening. If they have to work they should have privacy from male guards if they are in designated break areas and have to go to the bathroom

To husband of an inmate or other family member. I was in there for ten years. It's nothing like you see on tv. I think I saw maybe two fights. I never once witnessed sexual activity between inmates. Yes, Coffee Creek does have a reputation for staff and inmate sex. I did have a bed in Minimum where I could view the cubicle that houses officers. I would watch this one officer all day long while he'd call pretty young girls in and talk to them for hours. The other officer would do all the work and keep his mouth shut. One of my friends in there, Terry Nelson, was just in LOVE with this officer and he talked to her about a real relationship, etc. But he did get eventually caught and spent time in jail himself for it!!! See if Coffee Creek personal know who I'm talking about...he was tall with dark hair. I see the problem as the gray haired officer who worked hard to do everything while Sgt P was flirting his head off (both of them). Why did he remain quiet for 2 years?

But, your wife and Mother are in no way going to have this forced upon them. Coffee Creek min has 300 bed dorms. A person is well safe there.

The worst part about Oregon prison is FOOD. It was fine in 1995 but steadily declined as a person of Middle Eastern descent was hired to run the dept. He would brag in newspapers of how he got the food bill down to like $1.30 a day or something. It really, really got bad and probably still is. I used to wonder if he hated us horrible white Americans and enjoyed starving 10,000 of them. So if you know anybody in prison in Oregon send them some canteen money if you can.

I never asked my family for any as I made cards for sale to make extra money.

One thing I absolutely felt raped about in prison was this. Strip searches by obvious gay female guards. Seriously, why do think it's ok for a gay female employee to strip females and make her bend over and cough. I think that is just as perverted as if it were a male and it felt so but obviously studly masculine females enjoy the job of correction officers. MANY of them.

Also, if you ever think of committing a crime in Oregon and you are female DON'T. Coffee Creek Correctional Facility was planned in 1995 by a group of five people (one was the current Superintendent of OWCC at the time). I remember she said they even considered no physical visiting but just on video cameras. Fortunately that didn't make it BUT things just as worse did. The CCCF in Med and Max is actually like being in a jail not a prison. Google the California women's prison at Chino, CA. It sits on 125 acres. Inmates can walk the grounds from morning until 8:30 pm. There is a track, tennis courts, handball court, gym, weight room, etc. At Coffee Creek women live in pods just such as in jails with slamming steel doors. They can't put a picture on the wall and hundreds of other strict rules. In California women are told "your punishment is being in here" and they make it more like a home there. They can decorate their rooms.

At CCCF the "rooms" are designed for discomfort. The top bunk is so high to the ceiling you can hardly sit up. I see some future medical problems with that personally. Hunched backs?

Uncomfortable steel stools? California has a nice large room with couches in each building. Long hallways where one officer supervises 120 women. They are free to shower, go outside, etc. In Oregon an officer has to open a shower door for each one.

Know what that costs in Oregon? LOTS. Oregon females can get outside maybe an hour a day just like jail.

I truly believe women in Med and Max at CCCF are doing the harshest time in America. Is that fair.
I'm sure Kevin Mannix the inmate hater just loves it.

One change that occurred in me is that I intend to NEVER work in the State of Oregon. I'm in college, and I will stay right there until I can leave Oregon. Why? No way I will pay one cent to support the Correction
Officers who treated me bad. No

My girlfriend is at this place and if I here of any of these piece of shit guards touching her, I'll track them down and break their legs. With all the trouble brought on by placing male guards in a female facility it seems the simple solution would be to remove the male guards. Now it is a felony for guards to have sex with inmates but obviously it's not stopping them.

You guys are right on. The corruption starts from the top. I worked at CCCF for many years and was witness to many crimes involving staff and inmates. We are told to keep our mouths shut if we see something but then management will punish you and make you the fall guy if you don't. You have to pretend you never saw it.
