These troopers join the Ohio State HIGHWAY Patrol after "22 weeks of paramilitary training" while every other Law Enforcement Officer in the State of Ohio actually recieves LAW ENFORCEMENT TRAINING as approved by the Ohio Peace Officer's Training Counsel. I've never understood why the Ohio State Highway Patrol has their own "special" academy and are permitted to teach their own style of Law Enforcement to their recruits. You MUST graduate from the OSHP to be a trooper. Graduates from other LE academies cannot become a trooper without going through the OHSP Academy also but someone trained at an OSP Academy can go to work in any other LE position in the state of Ohio. What's wrong with this picture?

Nothing because the oshp is doing this because it is like a military bootcanp. So they can train these guys and embed in them the Morales and tactics they want them to have

Highway patrol training is more militaristic in nature; it encompasses most, if not all, aspects of law enforcement training. It is a different breed, and all other forms of law enforcement training don't prepare one well enough for the rigors of highway patrolling.

"rigors of highway patrolling"? You are joking right? The only "rigor" they have is meeting their ticket quoto.
