I really understand both sides. I speaking from experience not necessarily from Kroger's, but from other work places, that prejudice and racism does exist. Anyone that tells you it doesn't is living in a fantasy world. Yeah, there may have been some that worked for kroger's who were treated great and then there were some who worked for kroger's who were discriminated against. Companies need to realize that in this day and age, that is not TOLERATED. There are laws and I do believe the comments by can j, that were made to her daughter. I am of the older generation and it has happened to me, but I wasn't able to prove mine, because of the job status position and the bias of this company who had high powered connections, so I couldn't fight city hall (so to speak) on my own and they lied to cover themselves. I was devastated and felt I couldn't fight a losing battle. I see it everyday, in fact I have been where this person's (can j) daughter is right now, with the verbal abuse and harassment with is actually causing a hostile work environment. Can J, needs to get in touch with the EEOC and possibly filing a lawsuit based on discrimination, whether it is verbal, emotional or mental, it is not suppose to be tolerated. Those comments about the hood and ghetto are racial slurs and innuendos and shows racial discrimination based on race. This is violating her equal opportunity rights under the law. People can't have it both ways, you don't want to hire minorities and treat them fairly, and if that is the case then how are they going to ditch such bad and wrongful stigma's and better themselves if they aren't allowed to be a better person to society starting with the marketplace. Then you put them in a category that society itself created against minorities. People need to realize this is how lawsuits are born. I will quote a saying; "Don't cripple a person and then criticize the way they walk". Companies that sit by and do nothing are as equally at fault and are condoning this type of bad and negative and unacceptable behavior. It probably would have been a lot easier and cheaper to put the abusive worker on a notice and or fire her instead of letting her think that it is ok to treat people this way which is a very bad example to set in the work place. Now they are left open for a potential lawsuit based on discrimination. Can J, you need to check into that matter for your daughter. No one should have to deal with racism in the workplace. That is why the laws were created to protect the victims of such hate and ignorance behavior. Your daughter is there to work just like the other employees, she is not there to be verbally harassed and threatened in any manner which is probably causing stress and depression to her which will probably start taking its toll on her mentally, emotionally and physically. If she is working and doing her job then she is in the right and the potential abuser should be reprimanded, actually she should already have been reprimanded if the store was following the EEOC laws.
Good luck to you both. Dear whoever you are. I was discriminated against by white bosses and I am white. It's called human nature. They didn't like me. Out of the more than 6 billions folks in the world I only like about 41. And I will discriminate against all the others. Grow up candy-ass

God bless all of his children
What kind of racial remark are you trying to make. White people are just as dumber and lazier also. That is why way back in the day they had blacks cleaning up their damn messes. You make the mess you clean your mess. If you think that is going to happen now you are sadly mistaken. Your kind of stupid thinking is why there is racial tentions etc. Don't hate. End of story.

I do understand that it is human nature, it's not right, but I don't have to like it or agree with it. I am sorry that you were discriminated against also, my point I was trying to make was, sure it happens, but that doesn't make it right. Sometimes people have to stand up and fight even if they have to fight alone and that is what I had to do. I lost the battle and the war, but life goes on and so has mine. As the saying goes what makes us weak also makes us stronger. Take care.

This is just another example of someone trying to shakedown a company for cash. They'll make some ridiculous claim, and hope to settle to "GIT DEMS DA FREE CHECK YO!"

My brother works for Kroger and has for 2 years and they are still giving him minimum wage not once giving him a raise. I was unaware of this but i am curious onto why he is still making the same amount, is part of the union, but im starting to think that they are using him.

He has a very minor case of autism and he always talks about how they treat him like he is retarded.
They are about to hear alot of crap from me

So you think that someone sacking groceries (and probably not too well like most) deserves much more than $7.00/hr just because he has been around for 30 years?

I have employed a few black people at my small business and their track record has been less than stellar. 1st one was great - he left us because he was "underemployed" and we had no where to move him up. Next one was hearing impaired and used that as an excuse for every mistake he made, which was a lot. Next one was a 17 year old receptionist who was captured on security video at a local mall with someone using stolen credit cards of another employee; next was a guy who figured out how to set the timeclock back before he clocked in so he got an extra 30 minutes pay daily for 3 months until we busted him. All of those individuals hollered discrimination, but the knew they had no case to sue.

I am extremely tired of hearing blacks complain about discirmination. Now, I dont care what color you are, whoever is better qualified should get the job. Also, what month is it? February....black history month. Wheres white history month? The white person is now the most discriminated against person in America, and Obama is making sure that this continues.

not true. there are ways to get around that
They are union and the only way to vary pay is by pay grade. Seniority determines who wins the bid for the highest grade jobs. Maybe he was management, they are not union.

This is typical of black people in this city. They always blame others for their own problems.

I am sick of black people in this country, they all need to be ship back to Africa for good.

I am a minority as well, but my race do not blame others for our problems, we fix our problems and make it better.

You people who are talking crap to people who have been discriminated against should be sued too!!I was discriminated against based on age. And where I live thats covered. I was supposed to be looked at for an assistant manager position, but guess what an over 40 WHITE FEMALE was hired and out of nowhere the district manager decided to train her for assistant manager without even considering me or POSTING THE JOB AS OPEN!!! SOUNDS FAIR RIGHT??? I DON"T THINK SO!
