You are more likely to spot the Ohio Bigfoot than a bear.

I've had Black Bear here in Fallsburg for over 5 years and they are getting braisen and coming closer to the barns each year ; spooking the horses. We also have at least one big cat on the prowl. They are close enough now, that I no longer let my grandchildren run & play without a posted guard.

What storybook rhyme have you been reading ? They Do NOT leave you alone. Black Bear will chase you down and kill you. I have them here at my farm and they are getting more and more dangerous every year. I've been dealing with them for 5 yrs. now. ODNR may be correct on one thing..... they want food ; the thing is..... YOUR THE FOOD.

Ive watched them in the wild. DNR in america plays the docile bear approach too much. Its simple. They are constant eating machines. They will eat you and still have that nice teddy bear look while they are doing it. "Nothing personal they're just eating." Any wild black bear can and will eat you if you are the best or only target for food. Over 300 pounds, run 35 mph, swim, climb trees, you cant get away unless you get in a building, car, or shoot them. Black bear have killed more people than grizzlies in recent decades.

Let's just gain some more weight.
Once we weigh 550 pounds they ARE afraid.

Heck, I am afraid when I see my belly in the mirror!

also, I bet in ohio they eat more meat than usual because of the lack of the amount of the type of vegetation they are used to. Ohio eagles for example eat a lot more small land animals than usual because of their abundance. (Ohio is more densely populated with people than what they are used to also, yikes. lol)

In 2000 there were "officially no bear living in Ohio but an occasional stray would come through"
A few years later they stated there were about 24 living in ohio. Now, Im not sure but maybe a hundred or so. At that rate, and their normal population growth, we will have about 2000 living in ohio in about ten years? More will move in and stay too. They came through searching for buddies and didnt find any. Now they will. Mountain lions are next. They are doing the same thing. They are moving out from the west and exploring. You can see it on sightings maps. Contrary to what some supposed experts say, they would love ohio with all the deer and roadkill. I believe there has been a wild cougar or two in ohio occaisionally and may have a couple actually living here. They travel like 1500 miles in a few weeks.
