The people have spoken. Lawmakers should do nothing to go against the will of the people. If they fight Issue 3 in anyway, they also better step up and do something about the smoking ban.

In the interests of efficiency we should eliminate the middle man, and just send welfare checks directly to the mob.

The same booger eating morons who buy handfuls of those scratch off cards will now be at the casinos, squandering their welfare and paychecks while their families pay the price of their stupidity.

The people of ohio have just added casinos and desided to lose the horse racing industry and all the income and jobs it brought to ohio. I hope the voters realize what they have just done to ohio,

Ohio needs boost, period. Things can be adjusted in afterthought. Anything that can uplift commerce, entertainment value, and jobs is a welcome thing.

I am not a gambler, I am happy the casinos will be built, the people have spoken.... The only people rightfully upset, those guys in surrounding states trying to get our ohio dough, the ones who spent millions of bucks trying to scare church-going old people!! What a shame.

The "mob" hasn't had anything to do with casinos for years. It is ignorance like this that has kept casinos out of Ohio for so long.

Archie Bunker, you are retarded. A) The mob doesn't own the Casino's. B) Do you have proof that people on welfare are spending their checks at the Casino's? C) Those same "booger eating morons" put MILLIONS of dollars into the school system, that I bet somebody like yourself, never attended.

John Steven, Why do you feel that we just shot down horse racing? Have you ever been to Mountaneer Race Track in WV? I am not sure if you know this, but at a Casino, you can do this thing, where you put money on a Horse, and if it wins, show's or places, you win. Wild Concept? New Jersey doesn't have problems with their race tracks........

The Mayor of Columbus is a moron. He thinks the cities should be able to regulate the operations of the casinos. He should take a trip to Nevada where he would see that the only people that should regulate casinos should be a State Gaming Commision. That is the only way that casinos will work in Ohio.

I can see casinos in Cincinnati and Cleveland where the interest has always existed. As for Toledo, it might as well be an extension of the Detroit Metropolitan area, so no big deal there. But why Columbus? There's nothing about the city's character that even remotely suggests that a casino would be a viable enterprise here. It will hurt us more than it will help. I'd sooner see them build one in Youngstown, which can't be any worse off as a city.

Casinos will bring more jobs with better benefits than the horse racing industry.

AWESOME-

Now let's offer FREE casino hotel rooms to people from Indiana, Michigan, West Virginia, and Ontario. Maybe that way we can take back some of the BILLIONS that Ohioans have spent gambling in those states.

We need to place a casino somewhere in SE Ohio to compete with "Wheeling Island" and draw visitors from the Pittsburgh and West Virginia markets (well, Pittsburgh since everyone in WV who doesn't move to Columbus is practically broke).

One of the most popular casinos in New England is Foxwoods. Much like SE Ohio Foxwoods is literally in the middle of nowhere. But gamblers flock from all the nearby cities like it's their 2nd job (Boston, Providence, Hartford).

adam sr. you are correct about mountaineer and new jersy, at mountaineer the track and the casino are at the same location also the horse industry at thes two locations have an agreement on a share of the casino money of about 8%. In waet virgina you have only 1 track and new jersy 2 tracks to share their percentage with. The casino deal in ohio will only give 3% to the horse industry and it has to be shared with 7 tracks which will not off set the gambling dollars that will leave the tracks when the people leave the tracks to go gamble at the casinos. goodbye horse industry

"Columbus Mayor Michael B. Coleman, who opposed Issue 3, said lawmakers should move quickly to put a new constitutional amendment on the ballot to raise the tax rate, put the casino licenses up to bid and allow cities to regulate their locations and operations."

What's wrong Mayor Coleman, didn't TruthPAC pay you off with enough money that now you think you need to dig your greedy, corrupt fingers into the casino that is built in Columbus? Lord Columbus can't even manage to pick up the trash let alone regulate the operations of a casino. I pray with all my heart and soul that Ohio sets up a gaming commission that will oversee ALL gambling in Ohio, including the Ohio Lottery. If they do that you might just see that our children's education is all the sudden getting the money they should have been getting all along. Just my not so humble opinion.

It's a sad day when we change the constitution to allow a few people to exclusively run a business in Ohio. What ever that business represents doesn't matter, we may as well toss the monopoly laws too.

Things can be adjusted in afterthought??? Your "boost" is in the constitution now.

So,let's take the recently closed GM plant on Georgesville Rd. and use it to manufacture gambling hardware like slots, blackjack wheels, etc.
