Been taking lipitor for only 2 weeks and am itching and have a burning sensation in my feet. I am taking it no more, it is not worth spoiling quality of life for an alleged reduction of heart problems.

I take Statins(Crestor) and I am a Pfizer stockholder. Statins are lifesavers. A small percentage of patients suffer adverse reactions, devastating to them, but; acceptable to the FDA. This is true for many drugs. There would be no progress, if the industry scrapped every therapeutic that hurt a few patients.... Hombre
Unfortunately, you have a very sensible and thoughtful reply; correct in its analyses of the percentage risk factor supposedly outweighing the overall risk.

However, the use of "hombre" makes you and the reply unnecessarily ignorant, and ruins the whole impact.

I can't even begin to explain the trouble I have had with lipitor. I'm 65, and since last February have been suffering from unbearable pain in both my shoulders, and sometimes in my legs and groin. The pain was keeping me up at night and was so bad a few months ago that I went to the hospital. There were days I couldn't get out of bed and function and my wife had to help me dress. I couldn't lift a cup of tea, as my hands had no strength and hurt. My doctor put me on anti-inflammitory drugs and pain medications, all of which didn't help much and told me that I could expect to experience this as I get older. This was the hardest pill to swallow as I have been always very active both as a professional musician and as an outdoorsman.

It wasn't until I had gone to my pharmacist and heard an older gentleman complain about how his outdoor activity was restricted and asked if it was lipitor and the doctor replied possibly, did I do some research. I went off lipitor and after 6 days, no more pain, mobility has returned, and am now catching up on six months worth of lost living.

This whole experience has taught me NEVER to have 100% faith in the medical profession, and do my homework before putting any prescription drug in my mouth.

I live in Australia and this drug Lipitor nearly killed me. The Docto thought I had mental problems as I was telling him about all of the terrible symptons I had and every test he did couldn't find anything - I kept telling him is was the Lipitor and he told me to stop reading rubbish on the internet. I was bed bound for 6 weeks and still taking this stupud Lipitor until I read the stories on here and decided I would rather have Cholestral. I was advised by the Chemist to take massive amounts of CQ10 and after about a month started coming good - still experience some weakness in legs but never will I trust the drugs Companies again. I have swapped Doc's and he is more understanding. If you are on it get off it!!

Mitch, i'm glad you caught the problem early. My mom is 80 and remembers when doctors would really care about patients. As she still held that belief, she has developed diabetic peripheral neuropathy and her doctor threatens her to continue to take it. Her doctor said lipitor doesn't cause neuropathy. they are full of shit and its criminal that doctors are protecting big pharma along with the FDA. good luck to you.

I also have suffered from statin muscle pain and am now a diabetic. I was on 60mgs daily and when I asked my specialist if we could drop the dose he said no. Once I found out about fibromyalgia and lipitor I stopped immediately and no pain.

If there is a class action in Australia I wouod also like to join

Yes, I have read all about the side effects of these statin drugs and I am pretty worried about taking them. I am now considering using Choleslo as an alternative as it is not only natural but it is also made by a doctor. Has anyone tried it yet?

I used to be a ballroom dancer until lipitor took
out my legs. That was four years ago and no improvement after ceasing to take it. I am now 71 and I doubt that I will ever be right again. If I thought I could win , I would sue. Good luck with that. I would have one lawyer and they have hundreds.

GIVE ME A BREAK! Two bad apples spoil the barrel. How about all the lives that been improved and saved do to lipitor. For the good of the majority. This kind of nonsense is why medications cost so much. Can not blame it on the pharmaceutical companies. Can only blame it on bloodsucking lowlife lawyers and the animals that hire them.
You say this cause you have not been affected. Its not just 2 men there are thousands of people that have been affected by this drug. Pfizer has admitted to my husband that his current health condition is a direct cause of taking Lipitor for only a very short time and that there is no way to reverse the side effects and it will eventually die from it. These drug companies look at profits over law suits if their profits out way what they anticipate paying out in law suits they proceed with no regards to the lives they affect and the families that suffer from this debilitating disease cause by this drug.
My husband went from a very active hard working man to a depressed, disabled man and can no longer financially provide an income for our family. And you think we shouldn't be compensated. Give Me A Break. the worst part is his cholesterol was border line and should have never been placed on Lipitor to begin with. But these drug companies push these drugs to these doctors offering incentives and kick back for the number of scripts they right of their drug. Neither the doctors or the drug companies take any consideration as to the lives of the patients. Its all about the almighty dollar. Hopefully you never have to endure an experience of this nature but if you do I'm sure you will look at things a little differently.

I have recently found research indicating a link between statin drugs, shingles, and cancer.

My husband was prescribed Lipitor by his doctor. Soon after he began taking it, he had his first shingles attack.

Years later, his second shingles attack knocked him on his butt for months. At the end of that time, we discovered he had lymphoma. He died from lymphoma 12 days after being diagnosed.

I was put on generic Lipitor three weeks ago while in the hospital after a mild heart attack. Out of the hospital I noticed a lot of severe muscle aches all over my body but initially dismissed them as pains from laying in a hospital bed for 8 days. At the 2 week mark, I called my doctor - who suggested I discontinue taking it. I tried CoQ10 and found out I am allergic to it. So then I had the pain and hives! After a few days off the med most of the pain was reduced except for my hands. It is painful to type, write..etc and are really sensitive to cold. I was only on this stuff for 2 weeks! How long do these side effects last?

Loss of memory should have a settlement in the millions for each person. Cardiologist are getting to lie as frequent as psychiatrists. Pharmaceutical with combined muscle and memory loss and other medical problems should have their license each state and should have to undergo relicensing and penalties.

Judges acting under any ALEC authority or being a member of the Republican ALEC in a judicial position on the settlement should lose their license to practice law permanently.

I took Vitorin for ONLY 4 days and the intense camp like pain worked from my shoulders to my abs to my knees to deep within my femur (upper leg). Doctor switched me to Lipitor - 7 days later, pain intensity was worse. I stopped taking it. A few times a year I must take high doses of niacin with as much water as I can drink in effort to 'flash' whatever toxin (s) cause my recurring issues - EVEN THOUGH I have STORED using the drug. I have since developed some issues with blood sugar... but you can bet, THIS girl learned fast. Since my big deception, I no longer count in docs and meds - it concerns me to imagine the path of cascading drug path that doctors might have sent me on if given the chance....I have seen them do it to family and friends....I pass.
Phizer impacted my life in a horrible way that I shall never forget - in 11 days! 11 DAYS!
Good luck to all

The politics of the mind drugging by the pharmaceutical industry along with the memory loss from Statin drugs like Lipitor will only known by the attempted members and planners of the coup detat for the Republican ALEC, the Mental Health Industry and Republican planners for the New World Order.

I have been on Lipitor for 10 years. My CK total just came back at 411. Normal is 195. After reading all of these posts I realize my leg cramps may be the drug. I am a weight lifter and feel no muscle pain. Cramping and twitching though. Joint pain as well. I'm 64 and was attributing this to normal aging. Now I'm sure it's the drug. Really need to smarten up and conrol my cholesterol naturally. Going to the cardiologist to discuss some changes. This drug's side effects are insideous.
