Africa would be my last pick. Too dangerous!

I would have to say Cape Cod U.S.A.

Yes, sort of. Except the "Dawsons Creek" was a fictional show. However it did take place in the Cape Cod area.

I love the whole "New England" setting. Very classic and charming!

Melbourne beat places like Vienna, Zurich, Budapest, Rome WTF!??

I wouldn't live in Melbourne if I was paid $20 mill! shitty, flat, boring windswept place with a BS footaball code!

What's Melbourne compared to Vienna? The difference between heaven & hell!

It used to be Vancouver but apparently too many Chinese cooks spoil the egg drop soup..if you catch my drift.
I'd almost be tempted to move to Quebec City, Canada's best kept secret, even though I don't speak much French. Man, the architecture, the colours, the culture, the atmosphere, the cuisine, the fact that it has a very low crime rate for a city its size, and the setting make Quebec City a genuine treasure.

Sadly, it is the language barrier that stops a lot of people from visiting Quebec. My husband has family there, but even he doesn't speak much french. And with all the recent immigration there, it's difficult to be well received if you don't speak the language. Although I suppose that was always an issue with Canadian French people? Quebec is definitely a unique province aside from the rest!

If it wasn't for horrible traffic and high gas prices Seattle isn't too bad, although with increasing population density It's not quite what it used to be.

Full Disclosure:

Im South African born, serving my sabbatical Down Under. I have lived in 3 countries and travelled to 15 all up

Best place Ive visited : Tossup between Canada and the South of USA

Worst: South east asia (only went as a kid though, smell of fish haunted my childhood haha)

Best place to live in ?

Well the surveys done all point to either Vancouver or Melbourne (that cant be right)

Personally I would choose Canada over Aus. Super friendly people, unpretentious, open minded, good sense of humour, good natured to the point of being goofy.

They're almost the complete opposite to australians. I love canucks haha

If you have money, you can live well anywhere, the worlds your check in hotel

3 cities in top 5... not so bad.

Anyone from outside Canada who wants to disagree. But to the miserable failures on this forum who are in Canada and think whining about their putrid existence is more worthwhile than improving their lives: don't like it? then gtfo
