Susana Martinez affected film production in New Mexico because she argued about the tax break. Saying the state was losing money.
Hmmm a film company spends millions on a production and the state rebated a small percentage of the taxes they paid. In other words they were getting a part of their own money back.
The hypocrisy is she signed an exemption for Union Pacific. So they don't have to pay a fuel tax. Now that's not "if" money as in maybe will film in New Mexico this is "for sure" money because Union Pacific will obviously be refueling in the state so that's money not being collected at all.
So one company can't get a portion of their own money back, but another company doesn't have to pay anything at all.
This isn't strictly regarding just the film industry. The fact is her she is complaining about taxes and yet signs into law an exemption for a company to not pay near 10 million dollars annually in taxes.
Um, has she given you an exemption on any portion of your property tax?
Has she changed fuel tax for you the consumer? You, as people in New Mexico, definitely spend far more on fuel overall than Union Pacific.
So she obviously bends the rules for other people and to what end? Who really profits out of this? Ah but now I see why other people on these New Mexico threads keep saying she's bought by the oil industry, but then again which Republican isn't?
