This country made a tragic decision in 1986 by passing a one-time exception to the legal immigration process, thus encouraging millions who followed to expect another amnesty program. Are we really dumb enough to repeat our previous failure? There should be one and only one legal way to become a citizen of this country. A rational system would be a merit based system with yearly caps based on our unemployment rate. There should be no way someone living in this country illegally could earn a living here.(i.e.) No possibility of employment and no possibility of ANY government entitlement or handouts.

Just like 1986, all manner of enforcement provisions will be added to the bill for passage which will never be enforced. Required background checks and “back tax payments” will be quietly dropped after passage.

So now we plan to repeat that tragic mistake of 1986. Oh well, our children will have to live with our stupidity.
