I've been looking for a job since Semptember 06. No luck. I've been on
several interviews and had the job until they ran a background check. After that it was wrap. I don't know what to do. I don't wanna boom again, but society is making me think about doing it again...

A lot of people do work for cash. There's always yard work, construction or even general maintenance on the things that everybody needs and uses, from cars, plumbing, computers, etc. Good luck with turning things around. Staying sober and away from the wrong crowd is always a good thing.

Maybe you can get paid to go around and give talks to young people telling them how getting involved in criminal activities will totally screw up their life. How it pays to listen to your parents, obey the law, work hard even when you don't feel like it, study, get good grades, make something of yourself, stay out of trouble, choose good friends, take advantage of all the opportunity America has to offer. Life is not easy and everyone has to work unless you are born incredibly lucky.

ANYONE who plays by the rules, works hard, and takes advantage of the opportunities in this great land can make it in America. Anyone who does not belive it has never been to REAL third world countries! So-called "poverty" in America is living like royalty in many nations. Most Americans just don't understand how good we have it here.

Find somewhere you know is hiring illegals and put in a application. Once they give you the interview and find the conviction and refuse you work sue their azzes thats what they deserve.

Seriously being up front and not trying to hide it goes a long way with employers. A lot of employers only do drug test such as furniture and automechanics. If you are truely rehabilitated you will find someone that knows people make mistakes and you will find a job.

I am a convicted felon for owning a pitbull that attacked a little girl... Before this i was an active citzen in my community and still am... I just can't believe how many employers will not hire just because of this label... I have over 5 years of experience in my profession i am also in school to recieve a hire degree and this still all does not matter... and to apply to truth's comment this isn't a third world country so us americans are tyring to make it too.... and i have also been up front and tell my story and then i never hear from employers again and you can't sue them because you don't have any proof they aren't hiring you for the conviction!

I think it depends on your honesty and the reason for the felony. If you have a felony child molesting then I can understand not being hired.

Yeah, it kinda depends on what your crime was for. If you were a child molester, don't, like, apply for the first grade teacher job mmmkay? If you burned down a building, don't apply for the fireman job, mmmkay? Use common sense.

Well Mike, you should have thought about this before you committed a felony. Because pieces of sh*t commit felonies....and no one wants a piece of sh*t manning the register. If you would have dedicated half your energy to obtaining an education, you would not be in this situation and your trailer might even be paid for at this point.
Hey there Stone Cold you sound like you need an education. People committing felonies are not all low-level "pieces of sh*t" (to quote your eloquence. Are you in law enforcement by chance? I would suspect that you are.

Sometimes people fall into situations they never imagined themselves being in; educated or not...

Keep pumping that iron Steve-o. You have enough aggression that one day you'll bust a nut. That would be karma for an understanding "piece of shit" that would post a comment like you did.

Read a book yourself there character assassin.

Well finding a job is easy. You may have to start at the bottom and work your way back up because of the felony conviction, so my advice would be to start at temp agencies and get placed for work through them.

By reading my comment, you assumed that i am in law enforcement.......by me reading your comment, i assume that you are a convicted felon. felonies are serious crimes....not just stealing to feed your family (that wouldn't be a felony). if you commit a felony, then you've committed a serious crime and therefore in A LOT OF PEOPLE'S EYES you would be a piece of shit. speaking of pumping iron, i bet you do a lot of that in prison there chief. good luck finding a job.

First of all, I see you're from Asheville, NC; so I can understand why you sound like such an idiot. Second, some people make bad mistakes, but if American society does not give them a fair chance to survive when they are trying their damndest to fly straight, how do you call America a great country?

You are living proof that you don't have to be a convicted felon to be a piece of shit. You have the mindset "once a felon always a felon." People with your mindset help to create more crime than is necessary. If shitty people like you did not exist, then ex-felons who have a change of heart and become good people after all would have a better chance to make this world better and not have to resort to underhanded ways of survivial or living off your tax money with welfare.
