A lot of people can swim, but few people can swim after being thrown out of a boat from a boating accident. If you have a brain wear your PFD and or life jacket. If you do not have a brain YOU still need a PFD and or life jacket.

Enjoy your boating experience do not become a statistic. WEAR your Life Jacket / PFD

If the fisherman had wore a vest he may still be alive after he fell into the water. Is your life worth not wearing one?

I don't go to Mississippi anymore because of their rangers on the lakes. I have been boarded and searched every single time I come there with a ranger wearing a gun who scared the crud out of my kids. The kids had life jackets on, we were not drinking, we had everything we were supposed to have. I personally usually keep my life jacket on and always did when the kids were small, now not as much because I do like to tan and as an adult I'm about fed up with folks micro managing my activities because of those who can't seem to manage their own.

I'm all for safety, but next they'll tell me I have to wear a helmet with a light if I go out walking at night.

Elizabeth,
You resent the rangers doing their job, and you don't want to wear a life jacket because you like to "tan"--but you wouldn't have any problem taking assistance from them if you hit an object or flipped a boat and needed rescue. The Game Wardens and Park Rangers do an outstanding job for ridiculously low pay-a job that including rescuing or recovering folks like you that prefer to pursue skin cancer over safe boating procedures. We won't miss you on the Miss. Lakes, and hopefully you'll stay off Pickwick and KY lake as well.

Your kids should not be afraid of them anymore than they should be afraid of the police who also carry guns. You apparently did not teach your children to treat them as you would the police.

I don't know who appointed you as spokes idiot for Mississippi but every boater is missed. In case you have been living in a hole or in your case home sweet home, the boating industry is gone, not hurting, gone! Manufacturers could not withstand the bush/Obama years. Lean is a horrible understatement. Some people love to relax on the sun deck in their tank-kini, but in communistic Ms that's not allowed. Meanwhile every nut job in Jackson can now go armed without a single class on gun safety. If we can only save 1 life! BS! All MS wants is income from tickets and fines from people with money!! BTW this is only corps lakes, not the Tennessee river waterways you stupid goober. Navigable waterways are not under the Gestapo control of Ms Fish Cops. In summary, your the a-hole, not the nice lady who bought gas, sandwiches, noodles, happy meals, sunscreen, band aids, and a new map of joe wheeler lake. Which you will never see or even learn about.

I have been boarded by the Coast Guard in the intra-coastal waterway many times. They are serious and firm and business first. They are not rude or obnoxious or demanding. The fish Cops in Mississippi tend to be all those things. And they don't need to board a vessel with a mom and small children for any reason. Imagine them searching your children's car seat, while they are in it! That's how kids feel to forcible search and demand in a small closed environment. They are not there to help YOU, but to charge you with a crime if you can't make compliance!
