i think it is just silly to chase and imprison u.s. citizens who possess a plant. the old arguments are that weed is a "gateway" drug, whatever that means, alcohol was the first drug i ever encountered, as it is for much of our youth in a society that views teenage drinking as a rite of passage, and i never woke up the next day after smokin' a lot of herb and say "what did i do last night? why is everyone mad at me?" or "how did i get home last night?", so if my kids ever decide to use a drug in their youth i would hope its weed and not alcohol. as for the police having to work tons more wrecks if weed were legal just doesnt make sense, for one thing just because its legal doesnt mean people are going to be lining up to do something new, there will be those that would smoke if it was legal but most folks that will want to smoke already do, and some of them already drive, so by that logic the rate of arrests and man hours spent on folks that drive high wouldnt increase much if at all and wouldnt come close to equaling the money we spend on prohibition. i quit smoking pot for seven years and had no intentions of starting back until i was diagnosed with severe clinical depression and social anxiety disorder, it was only after suffering nasty side effects of prescription anti depressants that i wandered up on some articles and studies that showed cannabis to relieve symptoms of depression that i gave it a shot, and what do you know it works great, and i can sleep, eat, have sex, and function without the haze of chemical medication. i also know of several people who would be addicted to painkillers if not for the herb. so we should legalize med. at least in MS though i doubt it will happen in the near future

Allot of people use the whole , "but it's bad for your lungs" excuse. I hate to bust your bubble but there are healthier and more efficient ways to consume mj then smoking it. Vaporizing for instance is way better for your lungs and there is less wasted thc when you vaporize. Mj can also be eaten, some good pot brownies can make for a good time with no drama,no vomiting, lots of laughing, and no hangover the next morning. Pot just makes more sense.

This ole boy who's typing this is in his late 60's. I've had two lower back operations (L-4 & L-5) with one disc completely gone and the next one up nearly half gone. Pain pills,..?...sure, I do but my question is will pot help, especially at night time? I don't crave any wise cracks, if you don't know, keep your mouth shut. Thankx,.... prematurely.

it will definitely help your pain with no ill side effects like pain pills have, no life consuming addiction, no nasty withdrawals, no nausea either. there are some specific strains that are bred for their pain relieving effects and as a previous poster pointed out, eating or vaporizing is a safe alternative to smoking, and eating MJ makes the pain relieving effects last longer. you'll be sleeping a lot better too. hope that helps

People smoke it now even though it is not legal. It helps so many different people with many problems such as biopolar, depression, anxitey, even anarexic or how ever you spell it. Why it isn't legal is beyond me especially for medical purposes anyways. I don't see what the big deal is about this stuff LEGALIZE IT ALRADY!!! People are going to do it no matter what and it actually helps people.

im witchall homies!! makin medical marijuana would be great. personally im for the ouright legalization of it. has anyone ever seen anyone die from alcoholism? it is horrific!! i almost became a statistic myself at the ripe age of 32. i was in horrible shape. my liver was swelling, i was retaining fluid so bad my eyes would swell shut, the list goes on an on. ive been alcohol free now for a year an a half now thanx to da marijuana maintenance program. This shit saved my life man. Mississippi i fear will be among the last. all this good-ol-boy crap coupled with this i never wanna see change attitude has led to the demise of this state. DEAD LAST AT EVERYTHING!! man the potential this plant has is mind bending. WAKE UP MISSISSIPPI!!!!!!!!!!

I've got a severe case of ADHD, as well as back pain from an injury when i was younger. Im 22 years old. The pain gets so severe at times, But I cant take pain pills with ADHD medication, as that would produce a speedball effect, not good for the heart. However, for a few years I have been smoking Marijuana, which believe it or not, works for both problems, I can actually study my college course, while at the same time, my back pain is dulled down alot. Ive already written to gov. a few times. Hopefully more people will get involved and help these bills pass.

one day all the closed minded people will be gone. it's sad that amphetamines and opiates are readily available and encouraged for use, even though they both have death as a possible side effect, as well as psychosis, sleeplessness, nausea, constipation, dry mouth, irregular heart rate, high blood pressure, low blood pressure, addiction, the list goes on but those are perfectly fine but something natural that has almost no negative side effects is demonized and its users portrayed as airheaded stoners, a lower class of society. the only way to die from cannabis is to eat enough to rupture your stomach, or have a hundred pounds of it dropped on your head. they are finding more and more uses for it every day since the medical cannabis laws went into effect, think of what kind of safe medicines we could have for things by now if not for prohibition. it will happen one day, things are in the works to make drastic changes in the cannabis laws, and once all the roadblocks are out of the way common sense can take over and we can get on to bigger fish.

for one lung problems are not a issue with marijuana, all realistic studies show that no one in the 10,000 years of marijuana use has ever had a case of cancer or any health issues. and these days u have alternatives to smoking anyway, there is food, bongs, and best yet vaporizers.so go study our facts before making stupid insufficient claims. And how can anyone tell someone else what works best for them. i think they know best. and for the driving bs. look in the records and show me how many people have died from driving high........i found 0. but alcohol claims hundreds of thousands of lives each year not to mention all the other health issues and family problems it causes. i have very extensive history with both and i have never i repeat never got high and decided to do any stupid crap that people up and decide to do when they are drunk. its stupid to compare the 2 because there is no comparison. u get drunk u can get on the road and kill a whole family by wrecking but the drunk driver hardly ever gets hurt at all because they dont even know how they got into the car, wtf but yall want to sell it in ever store, lol fuck yall. i would rather find a sack of weed in my kids drawer any day than a single beer. how many kids are born each year from a drunk girl getting took advantage of? answer that. but i never seen anyone high get took advantage of because they still know whats going on.i could stay at it all day but i got to go.

I have suffered serious nerve damage in my arm.. I been tokin in Ga. but am considering moving to a nearby local legal state and would be greatly benefitted if It were to be lagalized.. THeres no reason for it not to be.. Except the people in office that used to get picked on by potheads in highschool..
