Eye of the hurricane: Is Mississippi Coast invisible?

Full story: Athens Banner-Herald

When the White House recently announced the president would be visiting New Orleans and the "hurricane damaged" areas of the Gulf Coast in mid-October, in accordance with a campaign pledge, our immediate thought was, "We better get ready." But since the initial notice was lacking additional facts, the Biloxi Sun Herald asked the White House press ...

I believe the article stated that most felt MS coast residents were mostly poor, illiterate, and drugers/criminals. However, I also believe it was shown that in New Orleans that the large volume of the ppl that were effected by the breaking of the dikes were poor, drug selling, criminals and some I am sure were mostly illiterate. MS coast line residents evacuated early and they suffered to survive until allowed to return. In N.O, that chose to stay and THEN complain about what should be done. In my opinion any one who stayed behind to "ride it out" should be the last ones getting help, that way they can truly ride it out. If the levy had been build correctly (blame the local area politions) then nothing would have damaged them, they would have held and my lifes would have been saved. However, what would N.O. do with out all the attention then? all the money coming in? chances are they would do what they always did , build houseing for young people that are lazy, uneducated, drug selling and most of the time blaming "the man" (do they know who that man is? cause I dont!) for thier wow is me pitiful pleas. Should N.O. be left out, no, of course not, just lets be fair, and share. Thats all we ask.

Hopefully the next big one wipes out all those welfare trash states along the Gulf Coast and Deep South. Just don't send your filthy jungle apes to OK or Texas when it occurs.

Dear Stonewall, MS... How ignorant you are, if you truly believe that only people effected in NOLA were poor drug selling black people, how would you like us to say that the only people effected in MS were poor white trash.... Remember, there is a bit of good in the best of us, and a bit of bad in the best of us...

Daily Horoscope for January 7

Virgo

You're finally at your best after relaxing and catching your breath for a moment. Now that you're rested, it's time to do some of the things you've been putting off lately. Make a sudden appearance to surprise someone from your past. No matter how many new people you meet, don't forget that old friendships are the glue that holds the relationship cycle together. Keep in mind that a present doesn't have to cost much, as long as it comes from the heart.
