Don Shelby seems like a nice enough fellow, but I'm personally glad he won't be on the radio anymore. Getting rid of the annoying Tafoya would be another step in a positive direction. As for WCCO itself, please drop the annoying news/talk format. A decent and friendly MOR (middle of the road) station with no illusions as to its own importance.

I agree Tafoya makes me change the station ASAP. Can't stand her or her voice. She knows nothing about anything. I did like Donnie Shelby. Smart guy. I hated his laugh but he is just as smart as Eskal (who should be running for governor of this fine state.)

'CCO has made some bad choices losing TR (Tim Russel) and the Dark man.

The guy is a very personable newsguy and probably has a job in St. Louis lined up...hopefully not for CBS.

News/talk is their only choice. The talent-level of the people on-staff now is too low to let them try a Boone/Erickson or Cannon type show. They need listeners or guests to fill the void. It's sad, but there will never been a revival of what WCCO had. The talent in radio today is sadly lacking, and the talent that does exist will be gone in 10-20 years for the most part and retired. Radio did it to itself by voice-tracking and playing satellite shows. There are fewer jobs at the lower levels and less and less to pick from at major market stations. Consultants that favor playing 300 songs trump any talent that comes from announcers, and companies that buy up radio stations in bunches have to find a way to pay the bills, so they cut people and force the staff that's left to do more. Blame that mess on the FCC which allowed companies like Clear Channel to own over a thousand radio stations without being local.

The McSkinney segment has been my favorite for several years. You and Michele Tafoya make a great afternoon team. When Shelby retired, I thought,"At least we still have Jeff McKinney". Sadly I was wrong. I'll miss you, Jeff. Your excellent voice, humor and thoughtfulness was a breath of fresh air in my day.

Jeff McKinney has been one of the few remaining bright lights at WCCO. He is intelligent, funny, witty, and is a great news reporter to boot. Maybe he saw the writing on the wall and decided to make his own decision about when to leave the station. Unfortunately, WCCO is a mere shell of its former self. How it has been gutted over the past few years saddens me. I don't mind the talk format - there are plenty of other options for music, etc. And WCCO still has the best traffic information in town!

Good luck, Jeff. I'll greatly miss your exceptional vocabulary. The Twin Cities' loss is St. Louis' gain.

Will miss Jeff and his humor and interesting 'take' on things. I do like Michelle and glad that they now have a familiar voice on for the early afternoon show.

Just heard that Eric Eskola is also leaving WCCO. Now there is absolutely no reason to listen. I will really miss him.

I think it is sad that so many are leaving at one time. I have listened to WCCO for 42 years and am now trying to find a new station that I enjoy listening to. Too many politics one way and not enough middle of the road for us that are independent.

How does anyone feel about Don Shelby and Jeff McKinney starting it back up up on their own podcast in 2013?
