Religion belongs in church and at home. When religion sticks its nose into government it should be treated as a secular business and taxed accordingly. When politicians bring their personal religious views to work (many of which are cherry picked to apply to a particular situation) they are foisting their beliefs on others who might not share them or welcome them, rather like forcing missionary teachings on a group who doesn't want them. Lawmakers should keep in mind that most laws are restrictive in nature and religious views inserted in those laws tend to create theocratic governments, whatever the religion.

The First Amendment protects freedom OF religion, not freedom FROM religion.

On cannot divorce the religious element from our society, including our government. Have you ever read the Declaration of Independence? The founders of our country recognized as self-evident truth the existence of God, and that He is the source of every citizens' inalienable right to life, liberty and property.

It's likewise impossible to erase our rich heritage, which includes every session of Congress opening with prayer, the 10 Commandments proudly displayed in the Supreme Court building in Washington DC, the Bible verse inscribed on the Liberty Bell, the National Day of prayer, the President taking his oath of office with his hand placed on the Bible, our coins inscribed with "in God we trust", and all those crosses displayed on government property at numerous national cemetaries all over the country.

Those of you who deny the existence of God should just practice "live and let live". You don't have to worship God if you don't want to, but you can't remove every vestige of religion from society.

You be far better served to spend your time, effort and energy pursuing something with a worthwhile objective.
