Don't worry, Dayton will veto it, he's got to pander to the bottom feeders of his base.

Dayton is the obedient servant of abortionists. One of his ex-wives, Alida Messinger (who gave hundreds of thousands to his campaign), was on the board of Planned Parenthood of Minnesota.

[City Pages] "Mark Dayton, one of three candidates running in the DFL primary election, released his tax records to reporters today [7/6/10]. Dayton earned $172,475 in 2009, according to the records.

"The overwhelming bulk of the income --$166,889 -- came from family trusts. He's an heir to the Dayton's Department Store vault, though as his campaign notes, he has no investment control over the trusts.

"Easy come, easy go: Dayton also claimed $26,883 in charitable contributions last year, according to his records. Of the 27 total donations, the largest went to Planned Parenthood ($5,000)..."

DC Abortion Funding Ban Leads 28 Women To Fundraise For Procedure

The shutdown-averting $38.5 billion budget agreement reached on Friday does not include the GOP’s demand to end federal funding for Planned Parenthood, but it would prohibit the District of Columbia from using local funds to pay for abortions. As a result, DC Medicaid ended its coverage of abortions last night, leaving 28 women who were scheduled to have the procedure without a means to pay for it. DC Abortion Fund sent out this alert:

Tonight we received an urgent call from a partner clinic to notify us that DC Medicaid is ending it’s coverage of abortions at MIDNIGHT TONIGHT.

The clinic had to call 28 women who are scheduled tomorrow and bringing their DC Medicaid as payment that they need to fundraise for the total cost of their procedure by their appointment tomorrow because Medicaid will no longer cover the cost of their abortion.

These women are devastated. We need your support NOW.

The clinic has asked if the DC Abortion Fund could pay for a percentage of the cost of all 28 abortions scheduled tomorrow slated to be covered by DC Medicaid, all of which cost several hundreds of dollars.

“We’ve raised over $3,965 so far in the last 12 hours,” DC Abortion Fund’s Tiffany Reed told DCist.“We’re still working to fundraise for the women who are scheduled today and then we have women scheduled Friday and Saturday who are just now being notified they can’t use their Medicaid.”

Abortions cost approximately $400 if performed during the first trimester and the price increases greatly later in the gestation period.

None of you heartless jerks would even consider helping the women seeking the procedures? Most of you claim to be "Christian" even. Well, these women will get the procedure with or without your help. WITH mine too! See, when you need a medical procedure, you usually get it. Forcing women to suffer because of sex, been there done that. Try a different argument other than sex = punishment.

You mean like providing money, counseling, and acting as an escort? I work with adult women and young to better be aware of what their options are and to have a hand to hold when they options are few. This, as opposed to calling women in difficult situations names and laughing at their plight. Still a jerk if you make fun of women who have few choices. Personally, I feel that you anti-choicers are kind of perverted. I mean, a woman can use help, but you'd rather just remove her choice over her own genitals. Interested in others genitals? That makes you a perv.

Poor kaykayloser, you're lying again. Shame on you. You know abortion is not murder, and you know why. You are welcome to your own opinion, but you are entitled to make up your own facts.

Chris Christie vs. Family planning funding

by Jed Lewison.

This isn't exactly new, but it is a noteworthy detail in today's New York Times story about the social conservatism of New Jersey Governor Chris Christie:

In September, he vetoed state support for family planning clinics, a move strongly backed by anti-abortion groups because some of the clinics performed abortions. In February, after the Democratic-controlled Legislature approved a much smaller appropriation for family planning, backed mostly by federal dollars, he vetoed that, too. Mr. Christie also applied for federal money for abstinence-only education, something that the Democrat he unseated, Gov. Jon S. Corzine, had not done.

And how will banning family planning funding, going the way of Bristol Palin with abstinence education, and becoming an anti-abortion activist play in in New Jersey? Well, for a hint, last month, The Eagleton Institute of Politics at Rutgers released a poll showing that 87% of New Jerseyans support abortion rights—just 10% believed it should be illegal in all circumstances. Chris Christie's extremism on social issues might play well with national conservatives who want him to run for president, but it won't sell in New Jersey, and it needs to be a key part of the case against him.

The question that should have been asked to New Jersey citizens is whether, or not, they would perform an abortion, even if it was made easy for them.

That'll give you the true feelings of even a dumbed down, drugged member of society.

Minnesota legislature proposes the gag rule

by: rachel_nygaard
Tue Apr 19, 2011 at 09:00:00 AM CDT

In yet another effort to prevent women from accessing medical services, the Minnesota legislature moves to implement the gag rule (aka the Mexico City Policy). This would prevent any state funds from going to any organization that is associated with or may council about abortion services - hospitals and clinics included. The MN legislature wants the gag rule to ensure that woman can't even be educated about their choices.

Talking about abortion would be forbidden by the government.(How very 1984 of them)
What the Minnesota legislature always seems to forget ignore is that abortions are medically necessary procedures. While this bill is certainly targeted to defund women's clinics that provide medically accurate information about family planning, many hospitals also have programs to provide these services. Would a hospital run the risk of losing much needed funding when they perform an abortion to save the life of the mother? Would they lose funding when they council a rape victim about their options?

The continued short-sighted, ignorant and hateful war on women - especially poor women - has to come to an end. The middle class and poor in Minnesota should not bear the brunt of the budget cuts in order to fund stadiums and tax cuts for the rich. Eliminating funding for family planning programs and implementing the gag rule only propagates the cycle of poverty. Only education can end this cycle. Unfortunately the GOP's biggest fear is an educated public and they will (apparently) stop at nothing to prevent this.

Majority supports marriage equality—Republicans hire $520 an hour lawyer to fight it

On the same day that a new CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll shows that a majority of Americans support same-sex marriage, House Republicans have announced:

Leaders in the House have agreed to pay up to $520 an hour and up to $500,000 to a law firm retained to defend the constitutionality of the Defense of Marriage Act after President Barack Obama instructed the Justice Department not to defend a key part of the law.

That's $520 an hour charged to you, the taxpayer.

And leading the charge—both for your money and the defense of discrimination—will be former George W. Bush shyster, Paul Clement.

Which leads to at least one job the Republicans have created since becoming the majority.

Hypocrite: a person who acts in contradiction to his or her stated beliefs or feelings.

You care for "human life" as long as it's inside another human being who you would ignore. I believe in trying to reduce abortions, a necessary medical procedure. What are you doing besides trying to remove the rights of already born human beings. That's why you aren't "Pro-life." You ignore the life that surrounds the z/e/f. You judge the person, and not the systems surrounding them that make having a child difficult. I hear "PL movement" I think of pervs like you. People like you want to limit education, contraception, and health women in general. By limiting a woman's right to control her own body you limit her humanity. Go stick your nose in a subject that could be helpful in these areas and let me know. How many already born children have you adopted? How many men have you encouraged to be supportive when they find their mates with child? How many social programs do you support and volunteer with? Otherwise, you're a perv. PL=perv

I love distopian futures! I can see it now, women as chattle, only good for breeding. Her or the potential life? No choice. No humanity, no love. Where's the love man?
