Sometimes a pain in the butt thief can get more time than a murderer. Yes, Both are crimes, Yes, both need to go to jail, yet the violent crimes like murder, rape, sex offenders, especially against children, human trafficking, they deserve longer sentences. The incarceration should be changed with placement. Put the murderers together, etc. Gangs should be in a separate unit and kept away from inmates who are just trying to do their time without incidents and don't want to be sexually assaulted, beaten or even killed by those gang members who want to prove their gang status inside. As far as healthcare cost, if a inmate is seriously hurt inside by another violent person, inmate or staff, then healthcare should be provided. It does happen.

This story is contradictory considering the inmate at the Rush City prison died recently. The state is constitutionally obligated to provide adequate heath care, yet they didn't. Another DOC Screw up.
