Justice Sonia Sotomayor let's it rip on Chief Justice John Roberts thorny, obtuse brain dead head!

"A significant portion of Justice Sonia Sotomayor's scathing dissent in the Supreme Court's decision upholding Michigan's affirmative action ban was dedicated to taking on Chief Justice John Roberts' views on race in America.

Here's a snippet from her dissenting opinion (emphasis added), which she took the unusual step of reading from the bench on Tuesday:

In my colleagues' view, examining the racial impact of legislation only perpetuates racial discrimination. This refusal to accept the stark reality that race matters is regrettable. The way to stop discrimination on the basis of race is to speak openly and candidly on the subject of race, and to apply the Constitution with eyes open to the unfortunate effects of centuries of racial discrimination. As members of the judiciary tasked with intervening to carry out the guarantee of equal protection, we ought not sit back and wish away, rather than confront, the racial inequality that exists in our society. It is this view that works harm, by perpetuating the facile notion that what makes race matter is acknowledging the simple truth that race does matter.

Although she didn't mention him by name, Sotomayor was apparently alluding to Roberts' frequently-quoted line from a 2007 case: "The way to stop discrimination on the basis of race is to stop discriminating on the basis of race." Affirmative Action policies were working to fully implement the Reconstruction Amendments in our U S Constitution in making a more perfect and just democratic Republic.

Maybe in your liberal fantasy world a "productive society" means treating people differently based on skin color, but here in the real world, that means that the best man for the job, gets the job.

If you're your house were on fire and your family was inside, which firefighter would you rather have kicking down that door to save them? The 6'4", 220 pound white guy, or the 5'5, 120 pound black woman who only got that job because some liberal kook like you wanted the department "diversified"?

For over a hundred years under Jim Crow laws the 'best man or woman' didn't get the job because of his or her 'skin color'. Affirmative Action attempts to correct that century of injustice .

You didn't answer my question.

Why don't you just admit you're a racist, and move on.

Still afraid to back up your opinion, eh? I don't blame you. If I were an ignorant racist, I'd change the subject too.

Affirmative action, the set of public policies and initiatives designed to help eliminate past and present discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, or national origin, is under attack.

Originally, civil rights programs were enacted to help African Americans become full citizens of the United States. The Thirteenth Amendment to the Constitution made slavery illegal; the Fourteenth Amendment guarantees equal protection under the law; the Fifteenth Amendment forbids racial discrimination in access to voting. The 1866 Civil Rights Act guarantees every citizen "the same right to make and enforce contracts ... as is enjoyed by white citizens ... "... "The actual phrase "affirmative action" was first used in President John F. Kennedy's 1961 Executive Order 10925 which requires federal contractors to "take affirmative action to ensure that applicants are employed, and that employees are treated during employment, without regard to their race, creed, color, or national origin." The same language was later used in Lyndon Johnson's 1965 Executive Order 11246." http://www.now.org/nnt/08-95/affirmhs.html

So, you still can't back up your opinion, eh? Treating people differently based on the color of their skin is racism. Because you support that, it makes you a racist. Welcome to reality, Bucko.

Okay Cliven Bundy , hide inside your prejudices , but remember Affirmative Action, if you are a white man,(You are the miniority now and you never had to fight for your rights), helped you as much as it helped other minorities gain equal and fair status as citizens .

I see you still can't address the issue. You're not only insulting white people, but you're insulting minorities as well by saying "you're not good enough to compete with whites, so you only need to do half of what they need to do."

But not anymore! Your racist ways are dying on the vine.

Why are you so afraid to compete with minorities ? Are you really so lacking in self-esteem and confidence?
