Ever notice its harder to get unemployment benefits than welfare? They will make you work at getting a job. With welfare you just apply and then just kick back for all the freebee's

Republicans hate having to pay people a fair wage, how sad.

It's no wonder since evil Republicans also love unjust war, murder, torture and massive corruption.

Vote Democrat people!

If you have health insurance, then thank the unions. They fought for health insurance benefits for line workers. Because of industry pressure, health insurance has been a standard for employment expectations for decades.
If you have workers compensation, then thank a union. Unions demanded through hard negociations that if injured on the job, that they would have some long term income protection for their families.
If you have has safe work conditions, then thank a union. Unions demanded and got changes made in equipment and work shop organization that made the work site one of the safest in the world for industry workers.
If you have have a forty hour work week, then thank a union. Prior to unions, 60-80 hour weeks were common.
To those people who believe themselves to be 'self made independent' success stories, I'd suggest that they look beyond their own skills (as excellent as those may be) and get a larger econmic picture on what laid the foundations for their economic success story. They will likely find that they are standing on union shoulders.
If ever a more ignorant thing was said then you said it. Oh, lets thank the unions for safe work places, lets thank the unions for better wages, lets thank the unions for regulated working hours. Back in the day before the federal an state governments had OSHA an other government entities in place to help secure employees rights an safety there was a need for them. However, there are all these things that have safety, wages an hours in check. Unions don't need to think that their still in control of these things. The local an federal government do now. You an your unions should figure out more creative ways to keep your jobs. But thats not working well either. I laugh every time I see another unionized company kicking their people to the curb. Your union reps at the locals are no different than the common CEO. The union is nothing more than a business thats driven by greedy under worked lazy people that think are owed something instead of working for it. You give up a portion of your wages monthly to these idiots to find out your being screwed from the very people who claim they care about you. The unions are loosing control of something they have no control over. Put the shoe on the other foot for a moment an look at what you might do in the same situation. Your no different than the CEO.

Bring me your tired, poor....ring any bells. Even Ronald Reagan and JFK had the same policy...if you yearn for freedom...come here...Illegals should legalize themselves and stay,,,we did that for your forefathers too.

These 'jobs' are NOT meant to be household supporting careers.

They are for students, retired seniors, homemakers, etc.....

If they took school more seriously, they could get a career.

Cheap "jobs" will always have their place. Not for paying your mortgage as a barista or popcorn guy at theater

I worked at Herman Miller through Adecco temps in the ToolRoom. The Finance Persons salary was published in GR Press at 1.3 million dollars per year. Thats $42,000 every two weeks in a paycheck. That same person comes to the tool room and gives grief to the skilled trades people saying "you need to be more efficient!" or lose your jobs. I was making $14 an hour, the other full time guys get around $25/hr. Firing her would make sense! But no! They hire more execs and abuse more temps. UNION ALL THE WAY!!! I don't care what people say anymore! Managment abuses people left and right. They hire confidential employees to break any unionizing efforts. People need to quit backstabbing each other and unionize!
Agrees !!! Herman Miller has more layers than a cake when it comes to management. Having worked there briefly an knowing some others that do. The management levels are insane. I worked at the Spring Lake campus as I said briefly. The business unit manager an floor supervisor in shipping are poor examples of qualified managers. They are the kind of company that smiles at you while screwing you.

So what part of what Atreides posted was ignorant (as in incorrect and/or uneducated)? Cite the sources for your corrections, please.
Not liking the facts does not make them incorrect.
If you really think that everything would stay all roses and sunshine without union influence, then I'm afraid that you are not only ignorant, you're also naive.

"If you have health insurance, thank the unions."

I think that would qualify as ignorant, since I have health insurance because I pay for it.

Why is it that everyone is OK with paying for auto insurance, homeowners insurance and life insurance, but it's up to your employer to buy you health insurance???

Tell that to all the people with college degrees and graduate degrees that can't find a job that pays enough to support their families.
These days, even a degree doesn't guarantee you a decent paying job.

Okay...then let's put it this way: "If your employer offers you group insurance at group rates and pays even a portion of it, thank a union"
or are you so myopic that you think your situation is representative of the workforce as a whole?

Again, Why is it your employers job to pay for your health insurance???

Should they pay your electric bill?? Or for your groceries??

ps If you think they're REALLY paying for your insurance, you're wrong. That extra money is either coming from reduced wages in your check, or increased prices paid by everyone.

Well, for one you can't have a MBA in underwater basket weaving an expect to find yourself a career. These idiots I see an have interviewed for jobs that have a Bachelors in Literature an are applying for a position in finance need to go back to school. Better yet one I interviewed had a Masters in engineering an applied for a sales position at a finance company.

For pointing out the truth. Interesting how there are all these posts saying conservatives are the namecallers....let's compare....A$$HAT or socialist.....truth hurts maybe? Here repeat the following phrase "I love myself and accept myself, even though I don't understand myself" When you can get your arms around that, maybe you'll be nicer to others....I liked your post about the models- purdy funny

You are kidding right? THese 20 million didn't come over overnite. It took decades. So yes there were many more than 20 million. Say what you mean. You are really mad about the Mexican (Illegal)Immigrants, not the Euro or Asian or Cuban. That sir is racism. The Irish were given guns immediately off the boat and told to go fight for 'their country' during the potato famine/civil war. Where you do have a point in the argument is that they all should be made to acclimate and speak English as were the Acadians in Maine, and the Italians in NY. So really what we want is for them to register, acclimate and become citizens so they can fully experience the freedoms of our culture.
