Judge Takes Up Michigan Ban on Domestic Partner Benefits
A ban on benefits for domestic partners in Michigan public schools and local governments might not save much money, but that's not a reason to throw out the law, a lawyer for the state told a federal judge Tuesday.

This is part of the big lie the anti-gays told to get the marriage ban passed in Michigan back in '04.
We are all assured the ban would have no effect whatsoever on domestic partnership benefits the state was paying at the time.
Of course the same day the marriage ban was passed, the anti-gays filed a lawsuit to force the state to stop paying those benefits, claiming they violated the new constitutional amendment. Not surprisingly, the Republican dominated state supreme court agreed.
And of course the anti-gays also claimed they never said they wouldn't go after domestic partnership benefits leading up to the vote, even though the ads are there for all to see.
