Fueling a mass transit debate

As I said as living in carroll county we don't want it. we would rather ride to the owings mills stop and go from there. No need to have mass transit in the country. Obviously those who lived here have done just fine all these years without mass transit and I intend on keeping it that way. We don't need mass transit. If you work outside the county like I do you just deal with it like we always have. That is part ofliving in the country to be away from every bit of the so called 'city life". We don't want any outsiders coming into our county. We live it nice and quiet just the way it is. If you want mass transit move somewhere else or live back in the city!

If there was a big enough demand in North Carroll, a business would setup commuter buses. The gov't and MTA needs to stay out it.

Tell you what, then: Since you CARroll CoUNTianS are so hostile to outsiders, why don't y'all let Maryland build a 30-foot high fence along the eastern, southern, and western borders of CC? Voila...no more outsiders! The ultimate gated community.

One more thing: CC residents seem to be infected with the spirit of Roger Taney. You know, the Supreme Court chief justice who in 1856 wrote the despicable Dred Scott Decision denying citizenship to blacks/slaves, which consequently plunged the country into a civil war. CC was the birthplace of Taney...they even named a town after the bugger! CC'ans seem to want to live by the spirit of the Scott decision by denying entry to so-called "undesirables". To hell with y'all and your county, then - we don't need you.

Correction, Taney was born in Calvert County in Southern MD. But I agree with everything else you said.

Just a thought -
- will the Hampstead-Manchester bypass ever get built??? Probably not as intended if at all.
- It is very unlikely that 795 will ever get extended anywhere into CC
Therefore, congestion will only worsen along the two only direct ways to 795 from CC.
And I don't ever see 83 getting widened unless PA helps pay for it.

It seems like the only posters who are talking about race here are from OUTSIDE of Carroll County! Not One post here from Carroll residents says one word about keeping a particular race out of our county! If the city posters are equating crime with a particular race then maybe they should look into their own racism.

The Hampstead bypass will open this fall, I think. The problem is that decades ago, Hampstead planned for a bypass and Manchester said they didnt want one. A few years later, Manchester changed its mined, but planned for its bypass EAST of Route 30 (Hampstead's is WEST of 30). Fast forward about 25 years, and Glendenning says the Manchester bypass is anti-smart growh (but not the one in Hampstead???). Anyway, by the end of the year, things will move much better around Hampstead, and much worse around Manchester. Too bad the two towns didn't get together back in the 60s and 70s and plan ONE bypass around both towns.

I would suggest to all Carrol County citizens to prevent mass transportation from the city into the county at all costs. Unless mass crime, section 8 and the lifestyle of city residents appeal to you. All of the counties are suffering due to the criminal lifestyle of these 'people' and will continue to do so, until all of us unite and say 'no more'.
Mr. Dresnner can go to hell... Let them live next to him and his family.

Yes, bypass is under construction; the by product of this all will be virtual gridlock on 30 out of Reisterstown as the bypass creates a temporary improvement that will allow for more growth, more houses, more schools, more everything....whatever you liked about living in CC or that part of BC will be further hurt; 30 is already maxed out between Reister and Hampstead as it is on the morning and evening commute...one accident and it's caput for the day.

We need more high speed alternatives, buses or trains. Metro should be extended to Westminster for one thing.

where is your proof that "all of the counties are suffering"? and why do you write people in quotation marks? who are these people? have you met them? do you have your facts to support your biased statement? furthermore, the mass transit would be for people who live in carroll county that work OUTSIDE of the county to get to work without traffic problems. it's not to get people there. what's there to do in carroll county that requires someone to take a bus out there besides maybe work? are there major corporations headquartered out there? i know your statement was written without the actual words, but it sounds so jim crow that it makes me sick.
