So, one good surrogate parent is as good as the next. A hot bowl of gruel, a blanket and a dry corner in the warehouse district can suit anyone until times get better.

Can you imagine this happening to you and your family? What would you do?Think how a child would feel, not knowing what has happened.

It's about time that the immigration laws in this country are enforced. Too bad for the kids...maybe next time their parents can try to enter the country legally. It's also nice to see that the factory management was also held accountable for hiring illegals. You need to get paid much more money if you are going to be paying taxes.

Adios!!!!!

Don't you love the way they make us out to be the bad guy. Illegals endanger their own children. They know the consequences...Vote for Tom Tancredo or Duncan Hunter for President and eliminate illegal immigration.

If an American committed a crime, was caught, tried and convicted and sentenced to prison, no one would even be thinking about his or her children left behind. The person would go to prison, regardless if he or she had kids or not, and if there was no one to provide for the children, they would become wards of the state.

Now here we are going over board and bending over backwards for people who entered this country illegally. They've always known that they were subject to be arrested and deported. Since they chose to stay in this country illegally, it became assumption of the risk.

I don't feel a bit sorry for any of them.

Illegals love to pander to a sympathetic audience. And it works. We are being had by a bunch of opportunists, and our citizens feel sorry for them. Now THAT is ignorance.

You're absolutely right...we should think of how the children feel. That's why instead of going around stealing, killing and generally just breaking any old kind of law, I think of my son and say...I can't do that because what would become of him.

Too damn bad they didn't think of their kids!

the reason they came to the US is because they were thinking of their kids. trust me, I work with immigrants every day. most of these women were from guatemala, and they fled CIVIL WAR. in other words, they came to the US risking deportation because it was better than risking their children getting shot or starving to death because there was no work because the country was torn apart.

Right on. They seem to have forgotten (the illegal parents) that there is this law on the books that says sneaking over the border into our country is a crime. Also, if we changed the laws that allow anchor babies to become automatic citizens, much would change with these illegals coming over here and having children in the first place. Does any other country have a law that states if a child is born in that country, he or she becomes an automatic citizen? Leave it to the U.S.

My heart goes out to them, but we cannot support the entire world. If things are so terrible all over the world, then these countries should surrender their land to the United States so we can run it properly and reap the benefits of the land provided. We do not have the food, money or resources to sustain this type of invasion. Our taxes will continue to increase, and eventually we will all be poor because there will be no one left to fund the welfare programs.

Actually, violating immigration law is not a criminal offense, it is a civil offense. There is a huge difference. it is not a crime.

undocumented immigrants cannot access welfare programs. you have to be a citizen, or at least a legal permanent resident, to get welfare benefits. please check your facts.

Besides the fact that these people are breaking the law, if they did not come here with such disrespect for our country, an allegiance to a country who does nothing for them, a blatant disregard for our laws and a sense of entitlement...we might actually like them.

Tell that to the many border hospitals who have had to close due to the freebies, and to the schools that offer free education to illegals, or free meal programs etc... you need to dig a little deeper.

A state report quietly released last spring shows illegal immigrants made up the largest single group of those giving birth at taxpayer expense in the state and in San Diego County in 2004...

Also, many undocumented workers avoid paying federal, state, and local employment taxes. Same for the employers not paying their share. That's what makes hiring undocumented workers so cheap compared to documented workers.

Which is a criminal offense. So is identity theft.
