A police badge is a carry permit, for life, in that state.
The similarities between the USA & Rome are few, but striking.
We are 'farming out' our military tasks to forreigners.
An out of touch elite (Landed Senators & parriians in Rome; Corporate top level functionaries here;) rules only for themselves, and the American and Roman citizens become voicelss peasants.
Our leaders are increasingly the lesser of two evils.
Rome had less choice.
Our body politic is become so polarized, I feel I am speaking with a Martian when I talk with a national-level Republican, these days.
Constantine split Rome, and abandoned it.
Some similarities, bur many differences.
The police candidate must have a gun permit as a citizen before they become a police. The special favors they offer is irrelevant.
First, the citizen must have arms before they are admitted into the militia.....or in this case the citizen candidate must be able to , and obtain, a valid gun permit...as a citizen first. Point is we cant raise a militia if they people have never had a gun, cant use it. The original intent was that citizens would have guns, although State restricted, to be able to form a militia...in part to fight off the standing army....

I can appreciate your nuances in the Rome thing. To me the important similarity is debasing the currency to build an empire through imperial conquest.

I don't have a problem. However, you obviously have no idea how the Party's select their candidates.
You need DELEGATES !!!!!!!!! Paul only has 93. Romney has - what 800+ delegates. Nobody gives a crap about Paul's proposals. You need delegates to win.
Translation - Willard wins, Paul loses.
You following this?
Paul loss means loss for USA. He is the only proamerican candidate, who wants to serve and to care for USA and US nation.

You will not survive. These both guys Obama and Romney and especially their cooperators are bad politicians, who are on the line of establishment and they will ruin USA, it is clear.
Look at France, they have changed, they have elected the best presidential candidate, look at Greece, they have done it too. And USA has Ron Paul, who is the best candidate for president and who will be good president.
He is the only chance.

Hey, Ross Perot lost in '96, and we somehow survived. Dr. Paul is more out of reality than Ross, so don't worry, be happy.

You have not 15 trillions debts in 1996 and you were not involved in dozens wars. It will be rather sad end. Ron Paul is the best candidate. Another countries can change their bad leaders, why you have problems. Politicians are not like beloved dogs. You can change it, if they are bad. If you don´t change in proper time they will ruin your country. And Ron Paul is the last chance. He will apparently win with Obama, if he would be nominated. Romney will apparently loose.

This Ross Perot is not Ron Paul.Perrot is guy, who is first speculator, grounder of EDS. It is good, that he has lost. Perrot is like Romney. And so, if you have had common reason in 1996 that you have ousted Perrot, you can repeat this heroic, brave, patriotic act and make Romney and Obama out.
Ron Paul is the only real chance for USA, if you want and like it or not. Ron Paul´s loss means loss for USA and for the world.

Bush it was real scandal and international tragedy and naturally nobody has voted him but he has ruined his country and the world 8 years during his term of office, which was not, because nobody has likely voted him. It shows just what candidates are supported by mainstream. And do you think that this Obama is much better than Bush or Romney is much better? They are almost the same like this Bush.
And Ron Paul is good, if you vote him, you don´t be sad that you will do it and you will be happy under his rulling. He is good, sane, wise politician, who knows what must be changed.

You are on the right path, but looking in the wrong direction.

We are unable to meet 21st Century crises with 18th Century solutions. Poor Paul is obsolete, and his grasp of the US Constitution is limited by his judgement that it is near divine.

Tom Paine was a founding father, perhaps the greatest thinker of them all; but Paul acts as if this man who named the United States of America; the man who gave Jeffersion the ideas in the Bill of Rights, is a footnote at best.

Please, support Paul, but continue to grow.

The Bill Of Rights, as authored by James Madison, not Jefferson, was founded on the principles of The Virginia Declaration of Rights, authored by George Mason.

Funny, those who chide Paul as going back two hundred years are the ones who continue support the tyranny of two thousand years of rule by man.

You claim the principles advocated by our founders are old and useless....and then claim PAUL ignores Paine......hypocrite

Dr Ron Paul is really the best and the most normal, sane presidential candidate and he would be the best president in USA. The best president of USA and for US nation.
He would end war in Afghanistan and take US troops home and he would end another wars with participation of USA.
He would propaerly change foreign politics
He would restore prosperity in USA. He would back financially US middle class, working class, retired, he would create honest social care and medicare and he would support poor people socially.
Dr Ron Paul is the only chance.

No, it was Reagan's tax cuts that let to the crisis which GHW Bush and Clinton fought. It was Bush's son who pushed the de-regualtion and further tax cuts that led to the credit crisis we now still suffer from.

Tax cuts have nothing to do with the 230 trillion in credit derivatives.
Tax policy has nothing to do with creating money and credit from thin air and passing it out to your buddies.
The rate of taxation has nothing to do with the morality of debasing currency.

Our debt problems cannot be laid at the feet of any one man or party. The debt problem is a nation of 300 million with an appetite to destroy posterity for temporary prosperity and the fed that facilitates it.

The systematic cancer of credit derivatives, and insurance on speculative instruments is purely a result of failure to regulate. Sure, all the greedy are guilty; but the guilty are less than 1% of your 300 million. The rest of us are the rubes, the suckers.

and who will do it? Romney will not do it. Do you really think that Obama - guy who is backed by all possible speculators just like Romney would do it? Neither Romney nor Obama will do it.They will not reagulate anything. They have another interests: wars, ruling all over the world, money to pockets, money for corporations, hypocrisy, polygamy ( Romney ) and gay marriages ( Obama ). Do you think that they are good presidential candidates? I think not, they are real disasater, who will ruin your country.
The only guy, who could restore and repair and make regulations is just Ron Paul, the only honest, not corrupt candidate in race.
