This recording was captured at a home that is 2000 feet to the West of the Fairhaven Wind Turbine site. The DB A scale on the side of the home away from the turbine meaures "low" less than 40db the reading on the West or turbine side of the house reads as high as 72db 32 DB higher.
These levels far exceed acceptable levels. This recording was made on May 29th 2012 at approximately 9:30 PM. The massachusetts DEP states that a noise source will be considered to be violating the Department's noise regulation (310 CMR 7.10) if the source:
Increases the broadband sound level by more than 10 dB(A) above ambient. "Ambient" is defined as the background A-weighted
sound level that is exceeded 90% of the time, measured during equipment operating hours. "Ambient" may also be established by other means with consent of the Department.
This recording clearly shows violation of the Department's noise
regulation. the DEP must conduct a study in Fairhaven and force Fairhaven Wind to bring this project into compliance.
