Isaac crossing Gulf with New Orleans in crosshairs

There are 11 comments on the www.sfgate.com story from Aug 27, 2012, titled Isaac crossing Gulf with New Orleans in crosshairs. In it, www.sfgate.com reports that:

Tropical Storm Isaac targeted a broad swath of the Gulf Coast on Monday and had New Orleans in its crosshairs, bearing down just ahead of the seventh anniversary of Hurricane Katrina.

The potential for a landfall as a Category 1 hurricane as soon as Tuesday prompted evacuations along a wide area of the Gulf Coast and sent people out to stock up on staples.

"I gassed up truck and generator", John Corll, 59, a carpenter, said as he left a New Orleans coffee shop Monday morning. He went through Katrina in 2005 and was expecting a weaker storm this time, adding that he thinks the levee system is in better shape to handle a storm surge than when Katrina hit.

If the Army Corps of Engineers had done it's job before Katrina, there would have been no damage to New Orleans. Big Government sucks.

thankfully the incompetent Mayor Nagin is long gone...his ignorance and lack of action cost many lives pre/post Katrina

Alas, VP Cheney used the canal levee money to finance his adventurist war in Iraq.

Alas, the White House knew the levees were failing, and did not warn the state & city.

Alas, NOLA paid.

Great job, Brownie.

I second that thought. I cried when I saw the great peoplwe in New Orleans reduced to animals.

I cried when I heard about th old people suffering in hospitals, with no hope of rescue.

I cried when I heard about the families who went up to their attic to escape the rising water, and then were trapped and drowned like rats.

I just cried again.

the dumb wench of a governor at that time did no better. when asked ahead of time if they needed help, she told them not at that time, but if they did she would ask. the idiot should have taken it when it was available, not after every other area hit asked for it ahead of time. maybe jindall will do better.

In a parallel time frame dating back to Katrina before landfall, National Public Radio was promising to blame Bush for anything negative happening from that hurricane. Subsequently, the Democrat conspiracy dating to their attacks on the Bush Presidency in 2000, then performed their magic: Democrat governors and mayors refused entry into Louisiana of Federal response teams. This increase panic, damage and death. NPR was then able to carry through with its pre-landfall promise to blame Bush.

As today, FEMA teams had positioned response and supplies at areas outside the landfall zone, but specific Democrats, who were by law in charge of FEMA response, refused entry and distribution. NPR and other Communist Democrats blamed Bush Administration response for something they worsened and interdicted. Other media followed NPR's response and threat, thus the continuing falsehoods of Communist and Socialist accusers today.
