Interracial couple denied marriage license in La.

A white Louisiana justice of the peace said he refused to issue a marriage license to an interracial couple out of concern for any children the couple might have. Keith Bardwell, justice of the peace in Tangipahoa Parish, says it is his experience that most interracial marriages do not last long.

I guess the man has a right to deny them but I didn't think any one would have to nerve to deny a couple (man/woman) to obtain a license to marry. And this is 2009; not 1939, interacial marriages are common and the most part accepted. Hopefully, the couple just went to someone else for the license.

The judge doesn't understand what the meaning of freedom is. It's not his place to decide why they shouldn't get married. Even if they got married today and divorced in a year it is still their right to make a mistake, not that they are. That judge needs to be removed from the bench.

Sure he has the right. Who is anyone to deny him of the right not to commit what he deems to be an offense against his own principals. So, should every doctor be required to perform abortions simply because it's your right to have one? Why is it that people refuse to give a shit about another person's rights, but are so quick to cry and whine when they feel that their own is under attack.
